hello all,

after doing some research on digitals i bought canon a70, kodak 6340 and
nikon coolpix 3100. i used each one for a week just to see which one i like
the best before i bought any. i did not like kodak at all. it felt cheap and
pics quality did not stand against canon. i liked canon but few posts
regarding brake downs scare me from buying it. it has good indoor and
outdoor pics quality and lots of manual options which i did not have time to
investigate. now about nikon. i like it as well and may be a bit more than
canon. pics are very comparable to canon althou indoor pics seem little less
quality than canon. looks like nikon has very few brakedowns as well as
kodak.
now i am against a dialema which one to get? what would you sudgest between
canon a70 and nikon coolpix 3100?

thanks for your opinion.

I had the same choice. Found the picture quality of the canon a70 and Nikon
3100 similar. In the end I went for the Canon because it has more manual
options which may come in handy down the track. At the moment though I'm
happy leaving most options set to auto. The canon also has an auto focus
assist lamp which the Nikon doesn't. This is supposed to help focus the
lense by using an orange light to help focus on the subject.

I was in the same dilemma and I rather went for the Fuji Finepix 3800 with a
huge 6X optical zoom and a very modern XD card plus this was as close as I
could get to a real SLR for under $400- Cdn. The 3800 gives you the option
to see the object the same way your lens sees it. Just like the SLRs. Best
bang for your buck. I found the Nikon overpriced and the colors
oversaturated in it's images. Both of the cameras you mentioned have small
lenses and they are more of a family type, point & shoot device. Regardless
of the options.
