After years of listening to me talk about it, my mother has finally
decided to watch Eva for the first time.
My tapes are all in Japanese w/English subtitles, so I rented the
DVD Vol. 1 from a locally run store that rents out animie b/c she
doesn’t want to have to read the subtitles with her
trifocals… or whatever.
The problem is, there seem to be sections missing from each
episode. For example, Eva Unit 01’s battle with the first angel
in the series, and the part when Toji hits Shinji in the schoolyard.
Anyone else have this problem? I had to return the DVD, so I
didn’t get a chance to look over all of the menu options. Maybe
I am missing something? TV cut Vs. original version, perhaps?
I am afraid that if we keep watching it together, missing scenes
will make the plot a lot harder to understand. Feel free to e-mail me
@ TaoOfElizabeth@aol.(sucks.thisisfornospam)com.
Thanks!
Elizabeth
That's odd. I don't own the DVD's, so I can't help much, but I do know the
scenes are all on the dub VHS, which I have from many years ago (before the
DVD's came out) and they have the scenes you mentioned. Hmm.

Now, I have the UK DVD's, so things may be different. However, in the
DVD I have, it seems to have both of the scenes you mentioned. I hadn't
actually seen the episodes before, so if something *was* missing, I
wouldn't know. Maybe that particualr DVD was defective.
