Toonami, huh.... weekday afternoons. Should be interesting to see
what's left after editing.
Intro/teaser then with only a few episodes from each series...
Continuation dependant on ratings, or is this to promote "Anime
Network" launch?

I would think that ADV wouldn't just give their big title to CN if

something I would never of thought of happening. The first two
episodes aren't that "bad", the beer stuff and the 'bath' scene come
to mind. Some excessive blood.. It seems like they won't change the
name from Angels, so thats a good sign. I guess, just wait and see. If
they do plan on airing Eva, they'll have to air it on AS.. There's no
other way.. But even that, I don't see how they're gonna air EoE.. You
think they'd have to if they were going to show Eva.

To be honest, showing the first 2 episodes probably wouldn't even win
over alot of fans.. heh.. Especially with shinji's annoying dub voice
in the first few eps.

Well, since the regular TV series ending of Evangelion, if showed on
CN would probably piss off alot of people watching it.. I maybe wrong
though, thats just the feeling I get.

I'm not sure ADV still considers it their "big" title. Not only did they
lose the movie rights to Pioneer, but the popularity of pretentious,
artsy-fartsy anime in general, and EVA in particular, has seriously
nosedived these past few years.

Errr...yeah. But atleast EoE adds closure to the series. If people
were to just see the ending of the TV series as it was, then that
would piss them off more I think, because it doesn't clarify anything.
I'd like to know where you got the information that EoE pissed people
off more than the TV series ending did (I've never heard that). Seems
to me like most of the people who watched EoE actually liked the
movie, despite what their initial reaction might be. Where as the
ending was pretty much universally hated by most people the first time
they saw it. But.. errrrr... whatever.

Yeah.. Seems like pretty much everyone who's wanted to see Eva has
seen it already, so it'd probably make more sense to just put it out
on CN.

Well EOE was made just to piss the fans off cause Anno was tired of taking
shyt from fans who bitched about the original ending. Although Anno isn't
right in the head and seems like an ass.

Actually they didn't lose the movie rights so much as they told Gainix
to go f--k themselves with how much the asking price for the movie was.
ADV bought 10 shows for the price Gainix wanted for the Eva movie.

It's called artistic integrity. Why should he change his vision just
because a bunch of otaku didn't understand it and wanted to see the
series end with another giant robot fight and Shinji screwing the
brains out of Rei, Asuka and Misato?

'His vision' didn't have nearly as much to do with the last couple of TV episodes
as his lack of budget.

Was this ever stated as fact anywhere? i.e. from an official source,

As I see it, Evangelion was the work of a depressed man, vomiting his
tortured psyche onto page and screen as a personal catharsis. It was
never really about the mecha, cute girls, conspiracy theories or the
references to Judeo-Christianity, except on a superficial level.
Rather it was about Shinji (and by proxy Anno himself) and his efforts
to understand his own mind and soul.

In this context, the TV ending is perfect.

I think they ran out of money at the end of the TV series.

I'm pretty sure the buget issue was mentioned in the dubbing crew comentary
on Death and Rebirth DVD. At the very least they talked like several complex
sequences never made it off the storyboards because of money.

I'd also wanna know why fans believe any business mindset would involve
making a highly-expensive movie just to piss off 'fans'. It's not like he'd
do it to make MONEY or anything...

How long was that still shot with Eva-01 and Kaoru? Methinks money was
getting _very_ short by that stage :-)The TV ending does look, well,
cheap. EoE is the cosmological spectacular ending that the series
deserved. A bunch of people saying 'congratulations' to Shinji is a
bit of an anticlimax after all that buildup to Third Impact...

No, thats nothing but a rumor with no fact whatsoever behind it. Anno
originally planned for the ending to be what we see in End of Eva
(granted, it would have been a lot shorter with not as good animation
and music, considering the restraints of a TV budget), with the Eva
series, etc... but the censors wouldn't let him do it after what he
pulled earlier in the show. That, along with all the budget problems
is what resulted in what we got in the TV ending. When Anno got the
chance to redo the ending naturally he jumped at the chance to do the
(slightly modified version) original ending.

If Anno really did make the movie to piss off the fans that complained
about him, then why was news about a movie(well, technically it was an
OVA first) out so soon after the show ended? Why did Anno shave his
head? You honestly think they could get those 2 movies done from
scratch the year after the show was on TV? You honestly think that a
studio would allow a man to spend all this money on a movie simply to
piss off the fanbase? I know its popular to say that kinda stuff
without completely thinking things out, but there's no reason
whatsoever to believe its true.

DID people in the original audience complain about the overly-long stills &
rampantly obvious shortcuts used in Eva? I only ask because in FLCL, a later
GAINAX oddball creation, there's a specific joke made by Noata's dad, who in
a bout of self-awareness mentions how they should 'stop doing still-frame
scenes (a la manga) because the audience is frustrated by them.'

No idea... but I hope they didn't complain about those though. I mean,
there are only like three of them in the entire series (I think). Not
really something worth complaining about.

Just because he put those in there doesn't mean he made EoE to piss off the
fanbase, remember that the entire world of eva is an interpretation of
Anno's personal outlook on life, so why not put in these things (which
obviously affected him enought to put them there) in the movie.

Also The story line was not changed at all from Death & Rebirth and is
completly concurrent, this suggests that the movie was made to show the
unsatified fans what happened on the outside during third impact. Thus it
was quite the opposite and was made to please the fans.

Plus did EoE really piss anyone off? I was really quite impressed with the
battle scenes.

My thoughts anyway....:)

when you see a group sitting in a theater complaning about what a bitch

P.S. was the said group suppost to be the Evangelon cast?
