why do all the eva's have diferent number of "eyes"
i mean: 00 1eye
01 2eyes
02 3eyes <--this is the actual reason why i ask
i wonder why asukas eva has 4 "eyes" and to me it looks like a faraon

The word you're looking for in English is "pharaoh." Although I don't really
see the resemblance myself. There are a lot of references to pre-Egyptian
civilization (the Babylonians and such) in Eva.

I kind of like that explanation, save for its lack of accounting for Toji's
unit. In your support, though, I don't remember the mass-production Evas
having eyes at all. Personally, I just thought it was the designer having
fun, but I guess four eyes does bring up some questions...

The progressive knife is part of the whole effort in the series to make the
Evas more human. They are, in many ways, more like medieval knights than
robots, a tactic adopted to stir up certain emotions in the viewer. That's
why they use knives and very large versions of real guns.
Why is an AT field your soul? It's allegory. One of the overarching themes
of the series is that there is an unbreachable gulf between each human.
A.T., if you didn't realize it, stands for Absolute Terror. The Evas' AT
Field "shields" are just physical manifestations of this.

It's just a weapon designed for the Eva's. It's basically a retractable
knife that vibrates INCREDIBLY quickly, enhancing it's ability. Some of the
angels need close combat to be defeated, hence the prog knife. Ammo can run
out.
The AT (Absolute Terror) Field is the boundary between every human being.
It's what keeps us from all being one giant mush of humanness. In EoE,
Gendou is working to remove AT Fields and cause this.

I read it was Anno's idea...
I remember it was inspired to some demons (or other mythological
creature, something like that) having 1 eye, 2 eyes and 4 eyes.
Right now I don't remember the details, sorry.

Then you can think of it in terms of Toji's unit ruining the
"completeness" or God's number so that's why it went bad and stuff.
