Nope. Probably not. I think during the making of End of Eva, Anno got death
threats for ending Evangelion in the mail and he put them in the movie. That
could've been just another rumor. I can't read Japanese. And I don't recall
seeing any letters, but it could've been in that weird sequence with all the
flashy stuff. That was a little hard to take in all at the same time.

Visit Neon Genesis Evangelion: Revelation.
http://www.resurrection.cyril.com/htmldocs/episode/index.html
Revelation is a continuation of the anime TV series Neon Genesis
Evangelion. It continues the story line starting after the end of NGE
episode 24: "The last messenger".

And it's not official at all.

fanfics are evil.

Rather it's one continuation fic.

No, fanfiction is good! You are evil, you must die! DIE!
Awwww, just cause it completely moves away from everything that know to
come from NGE? Just because it was made by the fans and not the original
creator? Just because it's had no official endorsement of continuity from
Gainax? I think yer being a little harsh Olivier! ;)

While I enjoy fanfics a lot (especially "Higher Learning" and "Garden of
EVA") I gotta agree that they are insidious things that get into your
head and screw around with your understanding of Eva. But, er, it hurts
so good.
After reading them I feel compelled to watch some of the series, to
remind me what Eva really is. I just feel all conflicted with
storylines that go against things from the series, i.e. Rei/Shinji
pairings and Shinji having a backbone and what not.
Richard
It's very professionally done. However, it cries out cheesy fan fic
sometimes, take this excerpt for example...
"Ichiro Tanaka was the sixth child selected by the Marduk Institute to
become the pilot of EVA-ALPHA. He was born in the USA. He came alone with
his EVA from America, which ended up coming into contact with the 18th
Angel. He always tries to be positive and looks on the bright side of life.
He is a very skilled in sword combat and likes reading Manga."
Ugh....
They are good that way actually. I think it can only help you to have to
put effort into separating the story lines. Helps keep the focus.
I don't find that overwhelmingly cheesy. It's not true to the ideals of
NGE, but then it's not required to be.

I didn't interprete the question to mean "Will there be such a
series?" but to mean "What is that rumor based on?"
I think the rumor is based on NGE:R because it looks very
professional. Yes, it is fan fiction and yes, it is nothing official.
Rumors don't require a firm basis, do they?

Is "carpe jugulum" "seize the jugular"?
52\Kyle
More or less!
"seize the throat". Appropriate, don't you think. ;)
--
'Anyone who isn't confused doesn't really know what's going on'
If you want to get into direct translations it means "Pick out shoulder"
amongst other variations that makes even less sense. "Jugulum" is the
"collar," "shoulder" or "throat", so jugular is a good way of thinking
about it, likewise, "carpe" doesn't mean "seize", it means many words that
when viewed at once can be interpreted as meaning seize.
Because it's Latin, I think people like to make it look like every word is
translated into some big ass intelligent English word. Elitism is great,
gives me a target!
or "seize the vein"...
