That hotel looks as bad as the one that AKA KON was held at. That is
definitely Tiff for you though! I wonder if they had decent catering? Er
ummm yeah she is that short too, the camera didn't make her look short or

Amen! Say hello to "Shallow Kakarotto"!

Look for the inner beauty!
Tiff is fairly expressive, full of energy and confident. She's one of
those people who like to hug there's friends hello.
Notice that that movie pointed out that the only girls worth knowing
were the ugly ones? And I seem to recall seeing a picture of Tiffany
Grant and she was kinda pretty. Then again, I'd pick an albino,
blue-haired, red-eyed shell of a human over a brilliant, beautiful redhead.

..... What movie pointed that out?
Asuka is not that good looking just for the record! Her nose can be
somewhat stuck up! Not to mention the times that her foot is stuck up.
I think he was referring to Rei, not Asuka, Disaster ;)

Eh, matter of opinion and such... Still, some seemed a bit
unfriendly. Personality overrides appearance, for me anyway. Though
not enough information in such a tiny video clip - perhaps they were
caught at a bad time or at the end of the day. Haven't been to a con'
myself in over 15 years, maybe they are more hectic now.

There are quite a few on her own site...

Found a decent one of her counterpart, Yuko Miyamura:

I though Tiffany did a good job as Asuka, though neither of them
sounded particularly German to my ear. Ah well.

Tiff is just, well, ummm... Damn scary sometimes... She's so full of
energy, she'd outshine an N² mine in the same room. That's good in a
woman though, and I give Tiff a big ++ in my book. Of course, as with
any good thing, too much can drive some people mad. I hope her hubby
can keep up with her energy, or at least die trying.
I should also point out, that she is pretty. Take off the glasses, and
voila! She's no Ayumi Hamasaki (^_^;;;), but she's still attractive. I
also thought that the chick that was dressed up as Yuri was kinda
decent looking too... ^_~ And yes, she did seem kind of dull, but
since there's nothing else we can find out about her, the only thing
that I can judge is her appearance.
In any case, back to work for me... More madness coming soon...

I get the feeling that Asuka is *supposed* to be like the hottest girl
in junior high (you know the one I'm talking about, every school had
one) whereas Rei goes unnoticed. However, in actual practice I'm sure
millions of fanboys will disagree.

Asuka is attractive, when she's not acting like the Queen Bitch of the
Universe! She has a very nice smile, where her face just lights up (usually
when Kaji is around, although Shinji has brought that smile out of her a few
times).
Still, how many VAs actually can cosplay their favorite character(s) as well
as Tiffany? (For that matter, how many ever cosplay?)

I'd love to see Amanda cosplay Rei!

Hmmm, yeah that's suppose to be the idea. Unfortunately I doubt there are
millions of fanboys full stop! :/

Betty for sure! Veronica is too up herself and who can resist the ditzy
charm of an empty headed blonde?
Perhaps, but even your own argument states that her smile only comes out
when certain conditions are met. Primarily selfish conditions.

Yeah she's like so small! She's not unhealthy or anything mind you but
she's as close as you'd wanna go if you were going to play an Anime
character.

Nah, Amanda is sooooo not like Rei, she couldn't keep her personality in
check for a whole minute let alone a session. Amanda is a very super
energetic women! She played Rei more to experience (at Matt's pushing ;) )
the opposite side of her own personality. If you ever meet Amanda at a Con
or whatever bring your participation boots! I only fell asleep cause I had
been up for a few days already.
Well, she's not that bad! :P I envy Matt that he managed to find someone
like Tiffany. He's found a happy person to spend the rest of his life
with.

That the one in the red silky top thingy? She looks like little like a
girl I used to know in Sydney.
I believe that Tiff once described Matt as her big fluffy teddy bear, or
something along those lines. This was before the convention, before I had
met either of them. When I first met him he seemed a little shy, or just
quiet take your pick. After we had talked and opened up a little, as you
do when you meet new people, it became obvious that Matt has a strong and
gentle personality. A teddy bear is a good analogy, I'm confident that
Matt can handle Tiffany. ;)
Watching you beat up on the annoying trolls is so much fun that I forget to

Pfft, rubbish, she was so cast as the good old American blonde bimbo. I
noticed you said "supposed" as well, so I gather not even you believe your
own statement.
Note the outward expression of a lack of emotional trauma, the defense
mechanism, a denial of one's own feelings in order to remain unhurt or at
least to convince one's self that one has not been hurt.
Probably the meaning of "a little" in this context is the same as the
meaning of "a little" when Misato talks about her place being somewhat
messy.

Interesting... most things already have been said, but:
Yet another different English pronounciation of "Neon Genesis Evangelion".
I thougt the "correct" Greek pronounciation (very similar to reading it
as it was German, also very similar to what is used in the Japanese dub
except the stressing) and the "standard" English pronounciations on "S2
Works" were enough... but this is another new one.
And who is "Atsuka"?
I have downloaded the high quality WMV and am now converting it to a
VCD-compatible MPEG file. Probably I'll delete the WMV crap then - but
if the video disappears from the site, I still have the MPEG file.

Away, psychoanalyst! But are you sure it is that different from
Hedgehog's Dilemma? I think Kakarotto has to be analyzed further before
coming to such conclusions. It may be even worse than you think...
Did NGE do this to you? At least it increased my mark in German (that is
how the subject is called - but one mostly has to psychoanalyze some
weird authors like Kafka or Goethe). I nearly quoted the sentence Shinji
got a slap in the face for ("How can I trust such a father!") in the
test about Kafka, and then the thought came whether Hideyaki Anno is the
reincarnation of Franz Kafka... but I rephrased the sentence instead of
translating it into German (at that time I did not see the German subs -
but the German sentence at this point is not as remarkable as the
English one).
It's a good thing to know things the teacher doesn't.
And don't put this sentence into your signature file!
You mean the closer I get to anyone the more I get hurt? Hmmm no not really,
I have been verbally abused by my peers over the years (still in high
school, 15yrs old) that the majority of insults or anything for that matter
doesn't really bother me. What a said about Tiffany was shallow, I admit it,
but I don't see why everyone is like "Oh Tiff" blah blah blah. I am in a
great relationship with my girlfriend, and despite what many people believe
about young couples, I am determined not to let this one get away.
You have?
Having a litle fun is not making an ass of yourself.
That's why I asked: because it sounds like what Disaster wrote, but I do
not think it is right. I wanted to read Disaster's argument about this,
not yours... now my attempt has been spoiled. But you could not have
known this before, so you do not need to excuse *g*
It's a trick I like to do to get more information: state something that is
wrong in my opinion, ut I am not sure about - but it sounds like what I
am referring to on first view.
A similar trick is rephrasing the opinion of someone else to make him
deny it - but which then means denying what he said before. It's a way
of asking a "Are you completely sure?"-question.
> I have been verbally abused by my peers over the years (still in high
> school, 15yrs old) that the majority of insults or anything for that matter
> doesn't really bother me.
I do not know how insults can bother anyone... in Germany it's the same:
you grow up being insulted by many people. No matter where - at school,
at school or at school. That's life, that's nature - and it makes
sense. The goal of this is that you become independent of other's
opinions - that you can be on your own.
> What a said about Tiffany was shallow,
*I* do not have a problem with that. You have the right to freely
express your opinion, and nobody can take it from you. Or don't you have
that in .nz?
> I admit it, but I don't see why everyone is like "Oh Tiff" blah blah
> blah.
That's because Disaster is the boss here and Disaster likes Tiff. I hope
Disaster does not read this, but I like Miyamura Yuuko better. I heared
some other songs sung by her (including some opening songs), and I
always find it funny to hear English words spoken by Japanese in an
extremely wrong way. After what I heared from Miyamura Yuuko, "Fry me to
the moon" is completely harmless. The new record is "idol" spoken as
"aidoru" with a *long*, *loud* and *stressed* (on the first beat of a
bar) "ru" syllable. Interestingly the other English words are mostly
correct in this song, especially the difficult word "chance" with a
z-like consonant at the end.
Tiff *did* a good job - but once you know the - better - original
voices, you won't want to hear the English dubbed ones any more.
Especially because you normally don't hear that way of speaking...
in 2000 I was in South Korea, and I heared two of them (both females)
arguing. Not that I understood any word, I could *guess* what was meant
because I knew why they were arguing. BTW, it was a funny story. One of
them wanted to get one of my teammates in the German delegation drunk in
order to you know what (it was just too obvious), but there was one
problem: Thomas could drink much more alcohol than she could, so the
"wrong" person got completely drunk. The other one - BTW the guide of
the German delegation - tried to convince her stop this because it
is won't last very long and she was the guide of some *other* delegation
and it is a bad thing if one delegation has 0 and another 2 guides. But
try explaining anything to a drunk - you'll fail. Interesting: the usage
of the languages. We Germans spoke in German dialects in order to make
it impossible for the guides to understand what we said, while the
German guide changed between bad German+English (whenever you do not know a
word of one language, use one of the other) and Korean and the other one
used only good English and Korean (the arguing was mustly Korean). You
can imagine how funny this has been - and why I like the Japanese voices
of Misato and Asuka (they speak a similar way). Did you ever think that
an International Mathematical Olympiad could be that funny?
> I am in a great relationship with my girlfriend, and despite what many

Which is completely understandable. But there are too many (Mist, wie
heißen "Mitläufer" auf Englisch?) "followers" who just write such
things because others do and do not even mean what they write. I am sure
there are one or two of this sort here, but I'll not explicitly accuse
anyone of this.
But your posting showed me that you are most probably *not* one of those
followers.
Why? I do not see that.
You only made one mistake: you were too explicit with your thoughts in a
pseudomoderated newsgroup. I did the same in a reply to your post and
probably will get thwacked by Disaster for that - but why bother?
BTW: How is "kakarotto" pronounced? Is the pronounciation of the double t
like in Japanese/Roumaji or in English?
You want me to hit you over this? I enjoy it actually! Although I'm still
waiting for you to use it. You seem to claim using mind games yet you have
not used any yet. I suggest you claim credit for those actions that you
are responsible for.

No that's crap! Being mocked is in no way helpful to you. It serve's only
to drive you away from others and at best will develop walls of distrust
and dislike with your world.

Unless it isn't his opinion. For the record, I have yet to hear of any
country but the US declaring that it's citizens have the right to speak,
or otherwise express themselves, freely.

....... I once sat behind two Japanese students on a school bus and their
yattering made my headache worse. Of course that was back when most of my
headaches turned into Migraines, unfortunately I didn't get home in time
to take something for the headache and I ended up crawling some of the way
back home.

Pfft, why not? If you don't wanna accuse anyone then just say that you
rather suspect instead. I guess you really can't make a solid accusation,
we really hardly know each other! I will state though that anyone who is
only 15 has got a lot more learning to do in life and should hardly be
concerned with that aspect of his future. Certainly no one that young
understands what that type of love is truly about anyway.
> But your posting showed me that you are most probably *not* one of those

Just as long as we all agree that I'm the boss I don't really care who is
what kind of follower!
*Evil grin*
I already did. Probably you didn't notice. People never notice this sort
of thing until they're told so. Just take Google and look at my first
posts here.
Once the "trick" was explained, it does not work any more.
> You seem to claim using mind games yet you have not used any yet. I

I never denied that.
But you answered exactly like I guessed you would, therefore verifying
what I think about you.

It creates a natural protection between people. If there has never been
such a thing, someone calls you an asshole and you lie crying on the
floor. Up to a certain limit, getting "used to" insults is OK - but you
surely have seen what happens if this "borderline" is crossed.

Germany does the same. Here an excerpt from our constitution:
| Artikel 5
|
Everyone has the right to freeley express his opinion in speech, texts
and pictures and to spread it and to unlimitedly inform oneself from
public sources. The freedom of press and of reporting via
radio/television and film are guaranteed. There's no censorship.
| (2) Diese Rechte finden ihre Schranken in den Vorschriften
| der allgemeinen Gesetze, den gesetzlichen Bestimmungen zum
| Schutze der Jugend und in dem Recht der persönlichen Ehre.
These rights are limited by the general laws, the laws to protect youth
(probably wrong translation, but you know what is meant) and by the
right of personal honor.
| (3) Kunst und Wissenschaft, Forschung und Lehre sind frei.
| Die Freiheit der Lehre entbindet nicht von der Treue zur
| Verfassung.
Art and science [...] are free. Freedom of science does not free you
from the constitution.
The only things we may not write are probably the same as according to
US laws: you may not publicly diffame and discriminate, and you may not
for example give minors porn and then argue it's your freedom of press.
Also, you may not go from house to house and fill the post boxes with
paper with the writing "George W. Bush is a m*****f****ng as***le!" and
then say it's your freedom of press.
So do not say the US are the *only* country that has such a right. There
are probably many others.

Why do you take such statments serious? Of course it's not the only

Never mind. This does not mean you are dumb, I do not even think you are
(hey, you were even able to create an any-browser compatible website!).
It just means that you did not hear it, and does not have anything to do
with being dense headed.

But it fits. IMHO it fits better than Tiffany's voice to Asuka's
character, but nobody will ever be able to decide this - you can never
be objective about such things because you heard one voice before the
other.
A typical problem of man.

Agreed. Only because of how Asuka chooses to deal with life.

I believe you, because I listened to her interview @ ADV's website.
Personally, I think Matt and Co. should choose Amanda to be the new voice of
Excel. She's the only one I believe who can match Jessica's rapid-fire
speech techniques for our favorite ACROSS agent (unless you like Hyatt, in
which case you probally perfer Mutsumi to Naru in "Love Hina")

Viva Tiffany Grant!

No way, she was the smart, kind, generous girl next door. And I
remember many a plot where she was tutoring someone or helping Archie
with his homework to get a date or something. Neither Veronica nor
Betty were really bimbos, per se... Betty was kind and Veronica was a
huge bitch, but I don't remember either of them being really ditzy or
anything.

Er no, there's a common lack of wealth!
You can sit there and tell me that she would do work to go out with him
yet you refuse to see that she's empty headed?
Well, that's life isn't it. Asuka chooses to act like a bitch then as a
bitch she shall be seen. Bitch may be a touch harsh here but I use it for
the arguments sake.

Oh yeah, you really have to have someone that can use a lot of energy and
still keep their lines coherent. I suppose Amanda would be as good a
choice as any. I would not cast Amanda for Hyatt though, I think she's had
enough of Rei Ayanami roles.

Creating a website for any and all browsers is simple! You keep from using
a lot of toys and use a little mental power in your layout to make
everything pretty. Of course I'm sure there are a few things that would
not work for those of you still using version 3.0 of whatever it is you

These people do exist, and it would be much worse if there were only a
few of them (say one per town).

It's easy for *you*. You did not leave out the ALT attributes of images
at necessary positions, that's all one has to do for that. But I know
too many websites that are "optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer",
which means the site is only usable with IE and with nothing else.

That was even obvious from the video. She's the right person for that
job - only the voice would have to be a bit different, that's all. Not
everyone has "as many voices" as Megumi, Miyamura IMHO fits just by
chance (I heared some non-NGE-related songs sung by her, and I always
hear "Asuka's voice" which proves that she did't change her voice) - and
IMHO better than Tiff. Especially Asuka's age is better shown in
Miyamura's voice - just compare Miyamura's "Anta baka?!?" with what
Tiff's "What are you, stupid?!?". But now that I checked that: Tiff can
speak German much better, which is no surprise because German and
English have a much more similar pronounciation than German and Japanese.
"Bist du blöd?" sound nearly like "bist doo blird" - you just have to
get rid of the r in "blird" and then it's correct. The best Japanese
approximation would be 'bi-su du bu-re-du' which is much more distant
from the German pronounciation. The only problem the English would
really have would be the vowel "ü" which is relatively near to the
Japanese 'u' phoneme, but nearer to the 'ee' than that.

mind which one! :P

Oh I don't deny the existence of these actions inflicted on other people.
I just declare that they have no constructive purpose.

I don't think so, I have had more to think on this though and I seem to
recall hearing my father say something about it so maybe they have fixed
up the law or something.

Well, I don't know a lot about making everything compatible. Frankly the
last thing that I heard was that NS didn't know how to handle a percentage
value in a table. I'm hoping they have fixed that by now. Anyway
Dreamweaver is an excellent program to work with. It does a lot of the
scripting work for you and handles a wide variety of CSS file attributes.
It doesn't do everything but it does have a little feature that lets
ensure that everything is compatible between browsers.

Another fine ADV import, falling into the "Maid-Character" catagory of
anime. It's an interesting romantic comedy/period piece set in 1920's Japan.
A 12-year old mystic awakens a well-endowed attack android named Kurumi, who
posseses incredible strenght and a fiece devotion to her new "master". Very
funny, worth checking out. Eps only 15 min., 6 eps per tape/disk. DVD has
lots of goodies. English VA for Hyatt also does a simmilar performance for a
"Steel Angel" called Saki, who falls in love with Kurumi! LOL!

No kidding! I'm personally amazed she was able to pull off that role the way
she did! I'm thinking she was using more that Pink Floyd albums to get her

Yeah I wanna be rich too!
Nice OT history lesson: Around the turn of the last century, Uncle Sam

Well, maybe Dubya.
