Now then, to continue.

Even though Rei is Lilith in the sense that her Soul is Lilith's, this
does not mean that Rei fully understands that she is Lilith or even if she
does, what Lilith is suppose to be. This is part of the self
identification thing. Rei looks in a mirror and sees a teenager. But this
does not look right to her. Even so it is what she sees thus it is what
she believes. This means that Rei thinks that she is Rei, and that Rei is
a teenager that pilots an Eva and goes to Shinji's school. At least this
is true for the majority of the series.

This opens up the possibility that Rei might become interested in Shinji.
However we also learn that Rei feels as though she has a connection to
every human. A bond of some sort. This tells us that she at least is
suspicious of her original nature and who she really is.

Rei is in to much conflict within herself, trying to find out who or what
she really is to ever become interested in anyone else during the time
that we see her. It's not a selfish thing, it's closer to instinctive.

I agree... I think that when Rei II sacrifices herself for Shinji is
when she starts to realize that her higher purpose is to protect him,
and eventually hand the future to him. The potential for her to become
interested in Shinji exists, but it doesn't happen in the series, or at
least never comes up. But all of it, as you said, seems to be
instinctive to her.

Apart from major line length issues, notice the crap at the top? The
identity tags work in a specific manner. This manner allows either for top
posting or bottom posting. If everyone uses one method it makes everything
easy to read in a nice straight order that encourages people to pursue.

Otherwise we have a post that discourages review. Even you have been
around long enough to have come across this issue. We have discussed it
many times and the consensus to is to bottom post. Thus if everyone does
it life is a little bit easier. I don't come here to exert effort in
making sense of screwed up posts. If you want a fucking puzzle go
somewhere else.

From personal experience; I used to sort of interweave my comments in
between the paragraphs they pertained to, but then a friend of mine
pointed it out to me and recommended top-posting (actually, I didn't
even know there were names for top-posting & bottom-posting; I thought
you meant "post to the new thread" when you said "post at the bottom").
Whatever, I'm flexible.

That _is_ bottom posting. You're putting the reply below the original

Well nothing wrong with replying on a paragraph by paragraph basis or even
splitting the paragraphs up if you want to address more then one issue

that you are addressing. Nothing wrong with Top posting, it's just when
you mix the two. I use to top post until everyone here yelled at me for

"Paradise Lost" and its semi-sister publication "Angelic Impact"
were two long running hentai doujin anthology series that
presented short stories set in the Eva universe. Sort of
like "Lunatic Party" did for Sailor Moon. Some stories were
funny, some were tragic, all featured copious nudity and
bodily fluids, and a few got into what actually makes these
people tick.

The ones that focused on Gendo were... creepy.

Do a Google search for PL or AI and see if you can find
a site offering one of the issues for free download, or
visit J-list and see if they still have any for sale.

She is jealous of Rei you know! She wishes that she could be as relaxed

Comparing Rei and Asuka is like comparing Gandhi and bin Laden. Both men
were charasmatic leaders seeking to help their people, but one sought a
peaceful solution, the other uses violence and terror. Rei is trying to come
to terms with who and what she is, and Shinji seems to be the only one
willing to try and help her on that path. Asuka, like Shinji, is severly
scarred psychologically, but where Shinji seeks to hide from confrontations,
Asuka is extremely confrontational, yet she hides her true feelings behind a
mask of superiority. The few times Asuka "lowers her AT-Field", usually with
Shinji, she very quickly puts it back up when she feels she's being too
open. Yes, I feel Rei does have feelings for Shinji, but I don't believe she
could be a romantic interest along the lines that Asuka could. I also feel
Asuka does care for Shinji, but her pride and arrogance (both defensive
aspects of her ATF) prevent her from truly being able to express her
feelings for him, much the same way Shinji, who oviously cares for her,
can't fully express himself with her until the end (Ep.25&26, EoE). Shinji
and Asuka are two sides of the same coin, as the old saying goes, opposites
and yet with much in common. This makes them a better couple than Shinji and
Rei, who are, in many aspects, very much alike. In a certain sense, Rei
could be seen, not as an older or younger sister, but as Shinji's twin.

Whew! Well, I haven't made any serious comments of late, so this should make
up for that. Later.

As it's an anthology series, you get stories that cover the
spectrum. As long as they're hentai, they can range from
funny to horrific, serious to absurd. Some actually devote
considerable effort into imagining what might bring Rei to
Shinji's arms (or vice versa); others are of the Plot What
Plot school in which sex happens spontaneously and without
regard to character. Fortunately the latter are usually
short...

They're interesting reads. As long as you can read - or,
as in my case, bumble - your way though Japanese.

[SNIP]

Lets try this again! Instead of writing something that is far to serious
and way to long for me to bother reading, how about something a little
lighter?

For starters, we are not comparing them to world politics. When I said
compare Rei and Asuka it was in the context of the discussion. That is in
reference to the personality traits being discussed.

You see how easy that was to counter your opening statement? Yes I did
read the first line.
