Just for trivia's sake, that was the first SVCD rip I did on my other
machine (here in my apt) after I assembled it. System specs on that
are (I think I said this before):
Abit VP6
(2) 1000/133 P3 chips overclocked to 1125/150
768 megs of PC133 ram (Crucial CAS 2 till 133Mhz, CAS 3 at 150)
40 gig IBM 60GXP (ATA/100)
60 gig IBM 60GXP (ATA/100)
60 gig Seagate Barracuda (ATA/100) (I gave my friend's father my other
60 gig 60GXP, so I bought this to replace it)
ATI Radeon 64 meg VIVO (this thing rocks for gaming, mind you ^_~)
SB Live 5.1 (I'll be glad when the Creative Inspire 5700s come down in
price so I can grab a set)
3com SOHO 10/100TX NIC
I did that rip with TMPGEnc with all the goodies turned on using 2
pass VBR. A very good HQ SVCD rip in my opinion. I hope you enjoy it
as much as I do. ^_~

Not bad. Personally I'd avoid the IBM HDDs, we've had problems with them at
work, Seagate is good brand, though. Also, I'd try one of Nvidia's fine line
of GeForce4Ti cards. You should also consider a IEEE 1340 interface and look

I _OWN_ the DVD. I ripped it for people that want to see the movie but
can't afford the DVD (VHS is being phased out in a lot of places,
animewise). And, yes, the DVD will always look better because there is
more bits for the video and audio data. Even then, this DVD rip came
out damn good.

Well, 4 of the 5 drives here in my apartment (between my 2 desktops)
are IBM GXPs. One of them (my 45 gig 75GXP) has been in this computer
(the one that runs the FTP server) for 3 years without a hitch. I
guess you can say that I'm lucky to have such reliable equipment.
nVidia? Nah. I already have a GeForce2 GTS in this machine (again, the
one that runs the FTP server). I'm tempted to buy one of the new
Radeon 9700s (which is about 250%+ faster than the fastest nVidia
card, according to the recent articles). I used to think ATI sucked
until I picked up a Radeon card (now listed as a Radeon 7200). I
personally like ATI over nVidia when it comes to video editing cards.
If you can name a nVidia card that has TV-IN, then I'll consider
buying one. I can cap movies on my ATI card with ease and then watch
it later. IEEE 1340...? I don't quite remember what the 1340 standard
defined, and in most cases, what I don't know won't hurt me (is 1340
Serial ATA?). USB 2.0... Hmmm... Why the fuck would I want USB 2.0?
It's not like I need it. I don't have any external devices. Don't want
to be mean Vaughn, but saying that I need USB 2.0 is like saying I
need to run WindowsXP. Everything I have in that machine now is more
than enough for the work I do (in my sparetime).
Don't mean to be rude, but, I'm a network admin. I keep up with most
of the new gadgets (http://slashdot.org is your friend). It sure as
hell doesn't mean I'm going to buy it just because it's the newest and
"greatest" (I don't use POS hardware that is Win only). It's nice to
have, say, an AthlonXP 2200, since it has a superior FPU over the P4
2.2Ghz. Then again, how much of that horsepower do you _REALLY_ use
any damn way? If you were encoding video on that machine, then I could
understand it. In the end, the numbers just really say "My dick is
bigger than yours! Ha ha!" But, in the end, do you really need that
big powerhouse machine to run Word? Nah. Do you really need 280 fps in
Quake III? Nah. It's all just bragging rights.

Yeah, dialup sucks. Why the hell would anyone living (except my
buddies down under) in the free world be using dialup? Most broadband
services (at least in California) are not much more expensive than the
best dialup services. If you're using dialup to download anything over
600 megs (which I did a long time ago... it took about 72 hrs), I
don't know who I should slap: a.) You or b.) Your mother for raising
someone so silly (<disclaimer>no moms were meant to be hurt during the
duration of this joke</disclaimer>).
Don't let the new tech buzzwords make you think you need 10 USB 2.0
ports to be the coolest kid on the block. I'd be more impressed if you
_WROTE_ a USB memory devices (flash card, etc.) driver for Linux. I'm
learning C now to develop software for Linux (knowing Perl and FORTRAN
can only take you so far). If I can do it, anyone can. So, crack open
those O'Reilly books and get cracking (Practical C Programming is the
second best book I own next to Advanced Perl Programming).

Disaster*
You think that the pitiful amount of time you kept that in a fridge is
gonna affect it? That somehow making mass less cool then absolute zero is
gonna impress me? Okay, if I were to respond to this outrageous attempt at
humor I would simply open my star portal facing in your direction as the
planet approached me. Anyone care to do the math on what would happen if
the center of a star were suddenly exposed in the direction of a planet at
a range of about point blank? There is of course no reason why I would
open the diameter of the portal to equal that of the planet either, so
with that the diameter of the portal would be several hundred times that
of the planet.

Who what?
I don't care! I read english and anything else is gibberish. As far as I
am concerned I have been prayed to! I'm confident that God doesn't like it
but then I'm sure he can see the irony if it's there!
We've got it: *That*'s the reason why you only have seen the dub. The
original language - who cares? It's gibberish, it's "unintelligble or
nonsensical talk or writing" (American Heritage Dictionary), it's just
"unmeaning words" (Webster), so you can safely ignore it. There's no use
even trying to understand it. But if you look closer at it, you just
hide from your problems. You cannot face them. You cannot take defeats,
and giving up understanding spoken words would be one. A big defeat. You
just canhnot cope with it, and that's why you try to avoid any potential
source of problems. You avoid anything new - maybe you can't cope with
it?
The only way to get rid of this problem is to face it. To cope with it.
To finally eliminate it. You "mustn't run away".
I'll help you with this. Here's some more gibberish for you - in my
signature. It's written by some really unimportant and completely
unknown person in one of his most unimportant and unknown works and in
this work spoken by one of the most unimportant and unknown persons -

Not really. I just looked up in some dictionaries what "gibberish" could
mean, and I did not find anything which explained this word to be *not*
derogatory in the way you used it. Then I searched for an explanation
why you could use this word for "widely used" languages (which Japanese
is, as well as German - and of course English, but you didn't include
that). All conclusions were straightforward - the result was absurd. But
it cannot be wrong if every single step is correct. So what is it?
This somehow reminds me on the "help help" screen of the "honk shell":

Well, with a good TV subs are OK. But if you have a 25Hz one (the
vendors say 50Hz, but that's incorrect and is the fake frequency created
by interlacing), I can understand that.

Abso-frigging-lutly! Personally, I'm just trying to aquire some decent

Not gonna cut it! I want $25USD/hr, one Million dollars US in life
insurance, and affordable health care! And a new car. Mercedes-Benz. Blue.
Vaughn L.Porter
And Liberal Vacation time!
That popcorn you are now eating has been pissed on. Film at eleven!
Okay.
--
Carpe Jugulum
What the hell are you talking about? No one ever pissed on it! Certainly
the Popcorn branch would never have recycled that!!! All the popcorn they
managed to get back underwent strict testing before it was put back in the
bin.

LOL!
Vaughn L.Porter
Everything is going as I have forseen.
Quality Assurance isn't what it used to be.
Vaughn L.Porter
I can fix that!
They reasoned that it was already yellow enough so why waste the butter.
You have declared your price, your soul is mine! You have done for me all
that I have wanted.
Listen Watchy old boy. I know you desperately wanted to into that Branch
but I'm afraid you never qualified. So these delusions and dreams you keep
having got to stop.
FOOL! My soul is for No Man to give, or take! You Have Nothing!
Gimme yer best shot!
Vaughn L.Porter
This is getting rediculous.
Wanna play Duel Monsters?
I left after you stole my chocolate bubblegum flavoring. :p
Yet I still own your soul! Your soul is for you to do with as you please.
You may give it to anyone you wish too. You declared a price, which means
that you have declared that you are willing to sell. This meets all the
requirements that I wanted. Thus your soul has been sold into the idea
that it can be sold. I didn't actually buy it, you gave it too me.
> Vaughn L.Porter
> This is getting rediculous.
Only if you don't know what I am really talking about!
> Wanna play Duel Monsters?
What?
If you were never there how could you leave? For the record, you never HAD
a chocolate bubblegum flavoring! You just stood on the sidelines whining
about the price but buying it up anyway.
Typical reply from heartless big business.
*Evil stupid Grin*
You called me big! :P
HA! I never said we had a deal, I never said I would give my soul to you.
Read the posts! Again I call thee FOOL!

There ARE other Animes out there beside Eva. Ever heard of Yu-Gi-Oh! While
you're at it, give the Escaflowne movie a try. Somewhat more cheerful that
EoE, I'll bet.
Vaughn L.Porter
You're very strange.
You don't listen and you call ME a fool? You are grasping desperately for
anything to save yourself. I think you do know what you have fallen for,
you are aware that fell into my trap. I know what was said, I also know
what I said and how you responded and how you were meant to respond. IT is
your ignorance tat allowed me to take possession of your soul I suppose I
can't really expect you to understand it as well. Apparently you are an
idiot.

Apparently you do not know what I am talking about, or else you be trying
to bargain for your soul back my dear friend. You can't do that with
denial of the current ownership status, it has nothing to do with it. As
to messing with the master, I'll mess with myself as often as I please
thank you.

You are scared!
I'm an idiot? Who are you to call ME that? You're the one who CLAIMS to now
posses my soul, when that is impossible for you, a mear mortal, to do. Baka
Idioten! So you claim to be God? Or Lucifer?

I Fear No Man! Certainly not you! I fart in your general direction! Your
mother was a hamster, and your father smellt of elderberries!
Vaughn L.Porter
What a strange person.
I am neither God nor am I the devil, I merely own your soul. Or rather
that which I currently represent owns your soul and you still have not
caught on to what I am saying so yes you are an idiot! Hey, I didn't put a
price on my soul!

Not according to name of the group.

I have not claimed to be the source of your fear nor do I know what
elderberries smell like. however I am not attacking you either. Oh apart
from the idiot thing that might be looked at as a slightly aggressive
manner in which to try and explain something to you but there you go.
And stop leaving my entire sig in your replies.
Technically, neither did I! There is no price I would accept for my soul.
Fair?

Oh, please. Are you going to complain about being flamed? That's so Morgan.

Fine. How's this?
Vaughn L.Porter
Personally, I like your sig.
Rei 01: Well you see there's the hitch. You did name your price. I quote,
"I want $25USD/hr, one Million dollars US in life
insurance, and affordable health care! And a new car. Mercedes-Benz.
Blue." You named your price, your soul is Disasters.

Rei 01: This was not a complaint! Merely pointing some facts out. Lord
Disaster does not complain about being flamed. He merely flames in
response. Or adds you to his blocked list depending on whether you are
friend or foe.

Good. I'm happy, and you're happy. We're all happy. (Well, except maybe Rei

I'm useless, but not for long,
The future is coming on!
Rei 01: *GASP* You like him too! :D *bounce* *hugs* I should grow up some
day. Anyhow, sarcasm is a dangerous trap V. Maybe next time you will be
more careful. Anyhow, it's not so bad having your soul owned by
Disaster-Chan. It's not like he does anything with it. Frankly he's not
really interested in it himself. Welcome to the club!
Rei 09: Upon official notice of acceptance, Vaughn L.Porter is now here by
granted the title, "Lord Vaughn" as all members of the DSE Lord's Council

Not as bad as Eva or Utena. In fact I think Utena may be worse for your
mental stability than Eva. Or various Lovecraftian Hentai, whose titles are
probally well-known to Zeruel.
Vaughn L.Porter
I watched "Death" today.
Well, I watched it with the Director's Commentary.
So it may not count.
