Nope--can't find anything about Japanese-style emoticons, which I need
Right Now....

I hope you'll give all the linkees a chance to rewrite the descriptions
about their websites?

They have 5 of my sites listed, but I can't work out where the
descriptions were lifted from. And yes it would be nice if I could
suggest rewrites of the descriptions so that they'd be somewhat descriptive.

Looks very like http://www.japanreference.com/ except that that site has
some hits and votes.

Hmm. The descriptions (and ratings) of 4 of my sites on jael are the
same as on the latter. A hotel site I did ages ago is listed on jael but
not the latter. The disclaimer of course reads "All links have been
submitted by users and we have no control about the description." Oh well.

Hi and best regards to all

well something more about the website: jael.com

the project was started in 1997 and the main idea was to create a community
of japan fans. It was not public at the beginning, not promoted and not
visible in the homepage of the domain but in a subfolder of it.

the community and the site have always been free for everyone, people were
free to submit links and we didn't ask money for that, sponsors would be
appreciated but they're not a must...

to keep the website free we've been asking people to submit links through
the website or by email so we don't go around the web to collect data as it
will take too much time from our life :!

we don't have any control about the description means that we don't write
the descriptions by ourselves...we just receive emails and we check the
description is related to the submitted link

most of times we cannot check the description for every links, we cannot be
sure someone takes it from another website or maybe they submit the same
description and link to more than a website...that's why we invite people
and webmasters to contact us if they want a link, a site or a description to
be removed or changed

at the moment we don't allow people to modify links by themselves because it
will take lots of domain resources :( but people are still free to do
that...they simply contact the webmaster and the link will be modified or
deleted on their request

hope my reply didn't hurt anyone :)

thanks

OK then, please check your email. Are you the webmaster?

Hi,
well all changes were made.
Please check them again to let me know if you need more changes and thanks
for your collaboration.

I'm not the webmaster, he's my friend so I forwarded him your email. We (and
other friends) met during a trip to Japan in 1996 and we were so
enthusiastic that project was planned to collect data about Japan and share
them for free with other Japan fans.

I also asked him to change the frame thing btw.

Thanks again

How much enthusiasm does it require to just rip off someone else's
work?

[ Sorry for the duplicate msg, I'm not very Usenet savvy ]

It does not only look like japanreference.com, it is in fact.
Jael.com/kataxia.com has not only copied our category structure, but
our links and link descriptions as well, word by word.

Compare the following pages:

http://www.japanreference.com/Art_&_Culture/Architecture/
http://lnx.kataxia.com/web/index.php?action=displaycat&catid=3

http://www.japanreference.com/Regional/
http://lnx.kataxia.com/web/index.php?action=displaycat&catid=70

http://www.japanreference.com/Government_&_Politics/
http://lnx.kataxia.com/web/index.php?action=displaycat&catid=22

etc.

I'll definitely reserve all options against such blatant plagiarism.

There might, of course, be some perfectly rational reason why there's
such a coincidental likeness between the two sites (not that I can think
of one at the moment, but I'm lacking in imagination), but I'd suggest
sending this info to the host of that other site.

Depends on how much I can profit from my enthusiasm. How much do you think a
"From the seat of my fruit of the looms" website would generate?

I'm already enthusiastic...
