I have a large English file in MS Word format where marked text parts need
to be overwritten (translated into another language). My client wants me to
type this text in red color. There are whole paragraphs, one line texts and
individual words all over the entire job.
Since I count my work by the bytes (characters), I want to

a) either copy all red marked text parts into another file or
b) erase all black letters so that only the red ones remain.

Is this manageable in ONE step? If so, how to do that?
Some procedure like in "Find & Replace": Search for 'black-colored' text and
replace it by nothing. The red-colored text would remain...

Thanks,
Sigi

I think you would need a macro for this.

This is doable.

Save as FileName_RedOnly

Ctrl + H to get the replace dialog
Set up as follows:
More >> Format >> Font >> Font Color >> Black
Use Wildcards
Find what: *

Replace with: [blank]

Now, press Replace All.

Done

You already know how, so why ask?
Incidentally, I've done that very thing, although I was retaining the
text formatted in italics, rather than by color. Worked fine.

Just a (probably unneeded) reminder, just in case: Save the whole
thing as a new file BEFORE doing anything. aHEM... I've, er, wished
I'd done that, too...

Ryan, thanks a lot... It does work as you said!
I was already on the right track but didn't use Wildcard and *.
BTW, selecting the color can also become a problem since one can easily
select the wrong one (there are several of dark squares which look very
similar).
