A friend of mine is having a lot of trouble playing back downloaded
videos because Windows Media Player cannot find the codec - is there
anywhere you lot of tealeafs could recommend he goes for a decent
player and/or set of plugins for any of the streams he might grab off
BitTorrent?

The kazaalite codes pack at http://www.kazaalite.tk has always been enough
for me. If your friend is so into bittorrents then he must have been to
supernova where there are plenty of codec packs to download.

Just warn him that some codecs mess up commercial software programs such as
Nero and especially Roxio. The kazaalite pack is neat because it installs
and uninstalls in a jiffy without any re-booting. The kazaalite site also
has adequate realaudio and quicktime clones - which I can imagine would be
more useful for you Ken - or would I be very much mistaken to assume that
you pay www.bbc.co.uk a visit at least every other day? BTW the BBC only
uses realaudio files on its site.

Then you need to learn the difference between "kazaa" and "kazaalite".
Something which has been explained in posts to this group several
times in recent history, by the way.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

It's almost as stigmatizing as when a man who purports to be happily
married surreptitiously makes a post inquiring whether purchasing a
pre-paid keitai for his girlfriend will at some point result in any
incriminating mail arriving on his doorstep from the keitai company.
Almost, but not quite.
