Which is why she really needs an older man to be both a father-figure

I am not the soul of an incredibly ancient creature
transferred into a teenage body cloned from a dead
(sort of) woman.

Rei spends much of the series apparently unable to
understand the disconnent she feels inside: An AC soul
stuck in a DC body. It's only in her final incarnation,
when as Rei III she learns about herself, that she
concludes she is not a doll.

>She learned that she had a choice.

Well, I meant if it wasn't dirty, it would be soon enough.
I could start a thread with, "I like Rei Ayanami. Her character is tragic
and ....." and the NEXT post would be "I like Rei, too...I wanna sick my XXX
in her XXX and then I'd shoot XXX all over her XXX."

Yup. There are certain things you can always count on on that show.
Colin will get jokes because he's bald and Canadian (in that order of
frequency), Ryan's lack of fashion sense will get nailed, and Drew's
weight and sexual proclivities will be targeted.

> Wayne Brady has got to be the most gifted musical improv person in the

They think so on the show. The first couple of years during Greatest
Hits, they kept trying to screw with him. I remember one episode ended
with Drew and the panel bowing before Wayne because they gave it their
all and couldn't trip him up. That's also what makes it so hilarious
when he biffs the games, like "Songs Of Marriage" or the time they sang
to Howard as the Village People and Wayne kept misspelling his name.

I recognize this is off topic, but I'm enjoying the irony of taking a
dirty Rei Ayanami post and making it clean. :-D

You took the words right out of my mouth. I've never seen a thread written
specifically about a female anime character getting boned, turn into an actual
debate of sorts.

I like this newsgroup 10% more now.

I think that's because we can't agree on what set of politics to argue
about, actually. Do the folks in the U.S. care whether the Conservative
Alliance and Progressive Conservative parties merge? Do the folks in
the UK care about the upcoming Presidential primaries? etc, etc, etc...

A good limerick...

There one was a girl named Rei
Whose soul had been hidden away
With Shinji's collusion
And Unit 1's fusion
She rebuilt the Earth in a day!

Fusion, hmmmm....

Lina: What?!?! You expect me to fuse with that?!

Piccolo: How the hell do you expect to defeat Super Angel Buu? You're
Giga-Slave barely scratched him. You
need Rei's Lillith powers added to your own, understand?

Lina: But...

Piccolo: No buts! It's our only hope. Rei?

Rei: I understand. I am ready Miss Inverse.

Lina and Rei: Fusion!!!!

A huge flash of light brighter than the Second Impact envelopes the
Lookout. Where there once stood two, there is now
one.

Piccolo: I don't believe it! It actually worked! Who are you?

Lina-Rei: I am Buu's destruction. Prepare yourself for the super
Giga-Impact Slave!!

Lit. "personal computer", it's Japlish borrowslang.

However, in anime terms, it usually refers to one of the "persocom" androids

I'm just wondering what Lina-Rei's voice would sound like... Would she
speak like loud-Megumi or quiet-Megumi? ^_^

Or the internal mudslinging within the PRI, threatening structural
reforms... Or the Mexican prez firmly inserting his foot in his mouth once
AGAIN...

Oh, I can easily fix that if you want!

*starts thread about how Viz Video translations led to the "Psycho-Akane"
Ranma fanfic cliche in which the TokyoPop manga insists that Batman could
beat Pantyhose Tarou and Goku*

The Zephyr

Well sir, I had to up and save money to purchase a new computer. This, after my
old one was just ravaged by a virus. Guess that's what I get for opening an
attachment given to me by a trusted friend...

It's no bullshit. I have an idea whom sent the original virus. Someone a friend
and I often have spats with on clublexus.com sent a virus to my buddy and the
virus spead itself by sending attachments to everyone in his address book. My
dumbass, thinking it was just an attachment of a picture opened it the rest is
history.

Not cool, man.

Don't let it get you down. No matter how smart we are and how on top of
things we are, we are still human and periodically screw up. I know
fixing the damage is a pain, but it happens to the best. I consider
myself quite 'Net savvy, and I clicked on a downloadable game that
dumped a ton of spyware on my computer.

Here's hoping you got it fixed with minimal damage to your data.

I appreciate that, but instead of going through all the hassle (plus my
computer was getting slightly old anyhow) to clear everything up, I just
decided to get a new one ^_^
