I'm so sick of these damned noisy trucks driving up and down the
street every 10-15 minutes that I'm about to fill up a balloon with
paint and go wait on the bridge for one to drive under...

All day every day since Sunday from 8am-whenever - one just went by
for the 3rd time in the last 15 minutes...

You could always resort to looking at one of those boards with
election posters plastered on it. They generally indicate the date of
the election.

Gunma just had a goobernatorial election yesterday. Only two
candidates, and I didn't hear a single sound truck.

That's probably because they were roaming all over Gunma, so the chances of
them passing your house were pretty slim. It's the city elections that are
fun, especially when they have something like 20 different candidates.

You realize that would just result in them cranking up the volume to give
you an excited "arigatou gozaimashita"?

I never heard that word until I came to Japan - is it in common usage
in Sepponia?

Yes. It is used to refer to the election in which we choose the
goobernors of our states.

Goober's state has a goobernatorial election coming up, it seems.

I'll have to do that tonight. There's one on the way home. Hopefully
I can read the dates... I do remember noticing that there were 39
candidates for whatever they're trying to elect.

There were 2 of them following each other around this morning on the
walk to work, it was funny, a guy and a girl trying to see who could
say whatever they were saying louder. Do those trucks actually work
or do people get so annoyed they decide to make sure they don't vote
for the idiots in the trucks?

Isn't Goober's state the same as my state? I think he is back in God's
Home now.
