I'm looking at buying a digital camcorder for the first time any idea on the
type of questions i should be asking the sales people in the stores i visit?
What should i be looking for in a digital camcorder?

Ok, ok, type in "Digital Camera Review" in yur search engine and read-read-read.
Other than that, Nikon, Olympus, and Cannon (in that order) seem to be the most
popular among discerning shoppers... and for very good reasons.

You can't read? Or just don't want to?
Really, There's too much stuff to know for people to type in all the variables
here. And really, you'ld be taking a pretty big chance by asking salesmen.
Do some serches. Educate yourself.
If nothing useful comes up is your serches ask for specific links.

personally own a fire wire card in my computer , and like diting my videos
sometimes selecting pictures from it.
So I personally would never get any camera that did not have fire wire
capability. Other than that the repply to yopu about doing research is
valid. Rent or borrow a Cancorder get a foundation of what you like doing,
see which Camcorders do it best by reading reviews. I borrowed Sony
camcorders for my learning.
What will you be doing with the videos is what you need toask yourself.
Initially I wanted to make a video of My Island in Hawaii about the volcano,
the Island comarison to other Islands , my home and my farm. I wanted that
to send it to my best friends one in florida one in California. After
playing with the video clips and seeing what my friends had in computers I
realized that one friend was without a computer and the other was not
wishing to learn about software needed to see my vids. I started to just
making frames of the best possible shots and oddly enough the under 1
megapixel og 640x400 res was enough to convey what my Hawaii looks like. Now
I have decided to just get a digital camera and get a higher resolution
pictures for more precise details to the same friends and my New York and
California based Family, and to prospective mates I seek on the internate of
the feminen gender, so they get to see me myIsland and my home and the
esthetic beauty of little details of Hawaii.
