The feelings I have towards Rei are more warm and fuzzy ones of
hugging and kissing her, holding her in my arms and telling her that
everything is going to be okay than a strong desire to fuck her into
the mattress. She definitely strikes a chord with something deep
inside me, attracting feelings of kindness and sympathy, wanting to

I agree with you there. Asuka's obnoxious personality (not to mention
that whining, screeching voice of hers) overrides any feelings of
superficial lust I may have felt towards her in the beginning.

But Rei is NOT subservient. Not to Shinji or Asuka, not to Ritsuko's
mother. She is DUTIFUL to an alarming, inhuman, degree, but she is

one. Unless you are considering some hidden aspect to Gendo's - or

there ability to fight - as material components for

with Misato, lamenting Rei's death.
Misato reaches for Shinji's hand and the dialogue goes something like
this:

Misato (to herself): "I'm sure he's feeling lonely. Is he afraid of
women? Or is he afraid of affection?"
There is a scene in ep25 or 26 where Misato admits to herself that she
can only find freedom from pain and sadness, or show affection during
physical act of love. After rewatching the first scene with this new
information, I realised that a slightly more unwholesome
interpretation could by arrived at...
Then again, by that same logic it could be said that she makes a pass

Also, I could quite comfortably live my whole life without ever seeing
