The Visa website has an amusing Australian TV ad for the rugby World Cup.
It's not far from the truth, I suppose.

Excellent!

BTW - can't remember the show's name but during the Sydney Olympics in 2000
there was a late night 'alternative' view of the days action presented by
two middle-aged guys. An Austrian CIR at the time lent me about 5 3-hour
video tapes of these shows each of which had me in stitches (though since I
can't remember the name of the show or the presenters I wonder just how good
they really were!).

ANYWAY - anyone know if they'll be a similar show broadcast during the
upcoming slaughter of the Celtic nations (Rugby World Cup)?

That would be "The Dream" with Roy and H.G. - fairly well known
comedians/commentators in Australia.

Roy and HG. According to rec.sport.rugby.union posts, they will be doing the
same for the RWC.

Actually it's "The dominant backline of rampaging Roy Slaven and HG Nelson, who
can take the ball uphill into the wind, turn defense into attack, and at the end
of the day win a lot more than they lose".

They have a 3 or 4 hour show every Sunday afternoon on TripleJ (it's a radio
station), you can stream at triplej.abc.net.au but I should warn that several
hours of them can be a bit much especially if you aren't Austrian. They also do
live sport commentaries, watch the TV with the sound off and listen to them with
the radio. They talk shit all the way through but their 30 second summary at the
end is usually the best of any summary.

Cheers. They are surely a national "kalcharal" asset. I'll have to make
arrangements to secure some tapes. The local JETs are fairly tame - I'm
sure I can bully one of the Austrian ones (of course that joke WILL be lost
on them....) into making their mother record all the shows.

Thats nice to know - I'm planning a World Cup Party in the student bar
at Mombassa, it will be a lot more fun if I can turn SkyPerfect's audio
down and stream Roy & HG instead.
