Also, any places (Osaka especially) where I can find truly edible
pizza? I`m tiring of the tomatosauce, corn and processed cheese on
sandwich bread rather quickly.

Don't you have any delivery places near you? Pizza LA, Pizza Hut, Domino's?

Buffalo Wings And Blue Cheese Dressing
---- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.02
Title: BUFFALO WINGS AND BLUE CHEESE DRESSING
Categories: Poultry
Yield: 2 servings
3 c Vegetable oil
18 Chicken wings
6 tb Melted butter
1/4 c Tabasco sauce
3 Celery stalks
1/4 lb Blue cheese
1/2 c Mayonnaise
1/2 c Sour cream or yogurt
1/4 ts Black pepper
1 tb Lemon juice
1 tb White wine vinegar
FOR THE CHICKEN WINGS, discard tips and heat the
oil to a temperature of 375F in a deep-sided pot.
Rinse the chicken wings, and pat dry on paper
towels. Mix the butter with the Tabasco sauce, and
set aside. Fry a batch at a time, being careful
not to crowd the pot. Fry for 10 to 12 minutes, or
until golden brown. Drain in a single layer on
paper towels, and repeat until all wings are
fried. As the wings are fried, roll them in the
butter mixture. Keep the wings warm in a 200F oven
in a single layer. While the wings are frying,
make the dressing by combining the blue cheese,
mayonnaise, sour cream or yogurt, pepper, lemon
juice and vinegar in a small mixing bowl. Break up
the cheese with a fork, but do not beat until
smooth. To serve, place the wings on a platter or
plates, and serve with the dressing and some
celery sticks. Makes 36 pieces. The dressing can
be prepared up to two days in advance and
refrigerated.

Wasn't that what he was getting tired of? :-o
In Himeji (I know this place is open) there's a place on the station's
south side that makes a pretty good pizza. Exit the station (south),
and to the right you'll see some relatively tall buildings (one has an
ECC, or did last year). walk in front of those and you can't miss the
place; it's up an escalator, second floor. They used to have a bar
tender that knew his drinks, and they have a good whiskey selection
(if you like it). There used to be an excellent Italian place in
Himeji that was run by a chef that trained in San Francisco; he told
me that he'd make me a pizza if I wanted, but I never took him up on
it. Unfortunately the place is closed and I don't know where he is
now.

<re-reads for comprehension>
Doh!
Brendan's Pizzakaya in Roppongi , http://www.pizzakaya.com/
Excellent American Pizza's , Buffalo wings etc.
don't think they deliver to Osaka , won't even deliver to Shibuya (bastard)
Oh, I don't know. I remember when I would have given anything for some real
food. Fortunately, I got used to my wife's cooking.
Isn't this like calling a worm delicious? I might live in the boondocks, but
at least I can get good pizza. My nephew is the real pizzameister. He was
even invited to compete on that terebi champion show with a bunch of other
pizzadudes. You haven't lived until you've had a bleu cheese, garlic and
anchovie pizza followed up with an apple pizza for desert.

Thanks I was wondering WTF Buffalo wings were.

As for the pizza, I always ordered from Chicago's. It's a pizza chain that
serves all around in southern osaka and some parts of wakayama.

Chicago For Ribs in Misugi Village, Mie. Also the best ribs, the best
onion rings, and perhaps the best microbrew beer.

If I didn't abandon ship so quickly after meeting Bryan, I might have
let him in on the secret password to get into the place.
You could try an American restaurant chain called Hard Rock Cafe for
both Buffalo Wings and Pizza. TGI Fridays also has both but I dunno
if there's one in Osaka. Maybe there's some Americana style
restaurant at Universal Studio that could satisfy your craving. IIRC,
Wendy's serves buffalo wings. If you go to Nagoya, you could try
Outback Steakhouse (no pizza or buffalo wings but great NY steaks).
Kobeya Kitchen has New York style pizza but I'm kind of partial to the
pizza served at Pronto. I dunno what's at Denny's but you could try
there. The spicy twister at Kentucky Fried Chicken could be a
reasonable substitute for buffalo wings. If you really are desperate
then you could try the restaurants at any Westin or Hyatt hotel.

They only serve semi-spicy fried chicken wings.

I thought the steaks at the Outback here sucked
ass. Even the filets were tough. The grilled
seafood and the shrimp cocktail on the other hand,
YUMMMMMY! The margaritas? Even YUMMMMMMMIER!

Crikey. And "proud of the fact that Outback really defines the word
quality". But when will I be able to get a cuppla four AND twennies and
a schooner of VB?

Right after you finish your Boner Salad. Now shut
up and eat your veggies ya Walhalla Tossa.
Now that would be some restaurant.

Oh I don't know, a round-tripticket could also work. After 3 weeks back in
the states, I got fixes for just about all my back-home food cravings:
deep-dish pizza, good chinese food, dim sum, phat carnitas burrito, bbq
ribs, baked pork buns, good salami & muenster cheese, etc. The only thing I
didn't manage to cross off my list was a falafel, but I've got the recipe so
I'll have to try it here.
