He should look for a better excuse.
I've visited the 5 or 6 major shops to buy a fax last week, B4 tray is now
on most standard models in Osaka. There are also A3 color
copy-machine/faxes/printers that cost about 40 000 yen, and sometimes less.
I'd take that if I were a translater as the printing quality is superior to
that of faxes with ribbons.

All the shops that have more than 2 models of fax.
I've taken a Sanyo. I've bought it at Japan and they had only that one in
stock. It works.
The "fappy" can also handle B4 paper.

This is presumably because home fax/telephones all use plain paper these
days rather than thermal paper. If he doesn't have any luck getting one new,
he could always try Hard Off or other secondhand shops which are likely to
have thermal fax machines.

I thought so, too...
I know him well enough to say that he is a blockhead. Just received a list
of more than 10 models sold in Japan...
Maybe he has asked for a B4 fax with built-in pencil sharpener!
> Maybe he has asked for a B4 fax with built-in pencil sharpener!
Oh, he has *asked*...that explains everything.
At my local supermarket, a guy informed me that "mochikome" was not sold in
Japan. He was pushing a kart with 100 bags of "mochikome" ! Maybe today, he
pushes karts with faxes.
The employees in shops in Japan are there to carry boxes or bags, and to
demonstrate the machines are really idiot-proof : if a shopkeeper can
manipulate the fax without breaking it, even my cat can use it.

Hehehe... that guy certainly moves around. He used to work in our local
supermarket.

That's your natural accent ?
I don't need to be understood. As long as nobody accuses me of speaking eigo
to refuse me the entrance of a shop.
