Hi,
Does anyone have an Olympus C-750 or atleast know a bit about it? I'm
thinking of getting one. The main thing that drew me to it was the 10x
zoom - I can't find another cam with that kinda zoom, at that size and price
range - why does no-one else do one?

Couple of questions:
1. Does the fact that it says 6.3 - 63mm, (35-350mm equivalent) mean that
the image starts off smaller than a normal 35mm anyway? or does it mean that
it will be the same as a 35mm zoom? ie. will an object 1m high be the same
size on the C-750, as on a normal 35mm camera?

2. Does the absense of an AF Assist light REALLY make a difference? Surely
itll still be ok for indoor pics with a little light etc. ?

3. What is people's general opinion on the camera? I'm not a camera
enthusiast or anything, I just want a camera which can be used normally on
holidays etc, but I really like the idea of the big zoom.

Thanks,
Daniel

Bought the C750 this week and first impressions are very good. Cant answer
your q's, but have taken a range of pics including indoors with low light
and focus works fine. Very good camera.

Got my wife a C-750 UZ a couple of weeks ago. Seems to be a very nice
camera.

Answers to your Qs:
1. Equivalent means you'll get just about the same viewing angle as
the "equivalent" 35mm lens. If you were to compare a picture taken
with a film 35mm lense and the C-750 UZ set at it's widest it would
look the same.

2. My wife hasn't had too much of a problem with focus.

3. A 10X zoom sounds wonderful, but think of what you have. You have
a fiarly smallish camera with a very long zoom (350 mm). In order to
get any kind of good picture you'd better be able to produce a really
stable "platform". A rule of thumb would be not to take a picture
with the shutter speed less than 1/350 second. (not too hard in
daylight, but almost impossible in doors). The minimum focus at 350
mm is probably around 15' to 20' (5 to 7 meters). Therefore, zooming
in on the mole on granny's check from one meter is out of the
question.

First thing I bought for my wife (after the 256 MB memory card) was a
monopod so she could hold the camera steady at big zooms.

It does produce some reasonably good images. The quality of the
pictures is entirely dependent on the photographer, not the camera.

Good luck.

Got one myself. I have no complaints.
There are plenty of manual settings on the camera for you to get the best
out of it.
I can only suggest that you experiment with the settings if you are unable
to get what you want..

I'm really impressed with the C750. I have had a c720 for about a year and a
half. Very happy with it. I am restricted in size of my pictures by my
printer (8.5 X 11) and my results so far have been great.

Now! my cousin just gat a c750! He really piises me off! I love the all metal
case. The pics he takes will be 25% better than mine as far as detail goes.
But is that a real advantage? I think my artistic talent will overcome his
technical advantage! LOL.

But the c750 is a great camara!

I bought the 750 about 6 months ago when it first became
available. The 10x optical lense was the primary factor. I
have no regrets. The only negative, and I think it is
common to all digital cameras, is the time it takes to
measure the light and focus. For kids who do not hold
still, I've learned to use the pre-set method. Then get the
subject framed.
