"Keeping one's indigenous teeth is not just a matter of convenience or
nostalgia. Dentures reduce chewing power about 20 percent, depriving their
owners of many foods that may be healthy like apples, corn on the cob and
tree bark."

environmental or labor standards in it."

Which human animals chew tree bark? Health conscious Americans even consume
the corn and the cob by throwing everything into the blender. I have seen
somebody prepare a 'corn cob milkshake'. Pregnant women develop peculiar
tastes...

Yea, but probably not longer than a second. Maybe some North Koreans had to
do that during the past couple of years...

Me. Not sure I'm a "human animal".
You have never chewed liquorice ? Go to the nearest Chinese pharmacy and get
a stick or two. (After chewing, spit it).
There is Japanese dish with tree bark (in kimpira or nimono ?). That's not
good, but I'm not objective. That tastes a little like gobo, which I've
always hated. So, if you like gobo, try it.

Crikey. If I ever attend one of these gathering thingees I promise that
I will buy you a freaking Irish coffee, and a girly drink (whatever you
appear to have a preference for), and swear to Arthur Guinness that I
will keep my mouth 100% shut even if there are a dozen pink umbrellas in it.
Only one condition.
Promise me you'll keep downwind.

"As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying
to kill me. They do not feel any enmity against me as an individual, nor
I against them. They are "only doing their duty", as the saying goes.
Most of them, I have no doubt, are kind-hearted law-abiding men who
would never dream of committing murder in private life. On the other
hand, if one of them succeeds in blowing me to pieces with a well-placed
bomb, he will never sleep any the worse for it. He is serving his
country, which has the power to absolve him from evil" - George Orwell,
