I never bought a digital camera before, so I am really in the dark here.
I like the Kodak DX 4330, the Canon A70 and maybe the Olympus D-560
although I hear batteries don't last long at all in the 560.

Which one do you like?..........hopefully I can hear from someone who has
tried more than one of these.

I went with the A70 and have been pretty happy with it so far after a
few months. The only thing I've noticed is the so called 'Canon
softness' I'd rather not see in some pics. I don't have any trouble
sharpening things up when I want to with software, but it's an extra
step. It takes great pics, has loads of features and is still easy
enough to use the wife and kids can shoot with it.

batteries don't last long

well at least not while we are learning...taking pics without the
screen on may be the answer...
one thing I will say is that it is much better than i expected

Battery life is one of the reasons we went with the Canon. It uses 4
AA's. We got some rechargeables and charger. So far so good.

I chose the Canon A70 because of it's excellent reviews and it's longer
battery life. The price was right for a beginner in digital photography too.
