I finally put up a couple pictures of my new truck. I included a
couple shots of the old one just for comparison.

Interesting picture! The one where you transport parts of a Shinto shrine...

Wouldn't have thought there was much demand for that. Do you have to be
specially purified first, and do they mind a gaigin carrying it.

First thing I noticed is the new one is a lot longer, I guess you can now carry
a decent sized load. And there are window in the lower section of the door so we
can look up your short to see your fly's eyes.

How much purer can one get that being a gaigin?

I know you're just trying, in your pathetic Austrian way, to be funny.
But the new one actually does have a longer wheelbase. Either that or
the fifth wheel is located farther back than on the old one. I could
tell the first time I hooked a trailer to it and turned a corner.

They all have windows in the lower section of the door. Great for
scoping out the seatcovers in the car next to me. That's one thing I
didn't like about trucks in Sepponia, they don't have that window. I
really missed it. The old one had a much better view, though, since it
lacked the large center console that the new one has.

I must stongly protest to be thrown into the same pot with the Austrians
from Down Under! My ancestors are no kangaroos....

But couldn't they have been galahs?

It shouldn't be a problem to have a gaigin hauling parts of shinto
shrines. A lot of the torii gates use imported timber, and the sacred
white horses at Nikko and Ise come from New Zealand. Its not as if
shinto shrines are as important as say, food products.

I wonder if all those people who want to toss out the foreign devils
would like it if food products quit coming in as well. God knows this
country is incapable of feeding itself.

It really tickles the hell out of me when I contemplate those nuts
chowing down on Japanese food and espousing its unique virtues,
especially tsukemono. Especially tsukemono because I've hauled so many
truckloads of good ole pure Japanese tsukemono....imported from China,
repackaged, and labeled as being made in Japan.

I don't think they even know how interdependent the country is for all
things, a mindset not isolated to Japan either.

Wouldn't happen to have a paperchase handy? Repackaging is fine, but
relabeling as 国産 (unless there is some reprocessing - washing?) would
make for a nice scandal.

Some time ago, one of the quiz-style TV programs set up a huge table
covered with all the standard Japanese foodstuffs, with the question
being which of them is produced 100% in Japan. The answer was just
seaweed and green tea.
