I'm just glad to see the gears are turning on the production. He just
doesn't seem capable of the necessary self-hatred, tho'. Twould be
great for publicity, on the other hand. On the other hand, he might
act the movie into disaster. On the other hand... where is my third
hand again?

If they could get Rupert Grint for Kenske, that could have potential... Thanks
for the news.

Very interesting. I'm convinced Radcliffe can flourish under the right
direction (Columbus' style is rather stifling and simplistic). I'd like to
see how his emotions do in Prisoner of Azkaban under Cuaron's guidance.
Totally disregard IGN's note about him being a bit too old for Shinji. It's
extremely unlikely they're going to actually get someone who is actually 14.
You'd actually WANT an actor a few years older than that just to have the
time for their acting to mature, and 16 or so is still easily passed for 14.
They might even tweak the ages officially in the movie.
All in all, it's an interesting prospect that I don't feel aversion to. In
fact, my first gut reaction was a good one. I'd like to see PoA for a better
idea of how Radcliffe's acting is progressing under new directorship.

Hey, let's go for an all-Harry Potter cast here:
Daniel Radcliffe as Shinji
Emma Watson (dyed hair) as Asuka
Whoever's playing Cho Chang as Rei
Rupert Grint as Kensuke
Tom Felton (Draco) as Toji
Alan Rickman as Gendo
Whoever's playing Dumbledore as Fuyutski
heh... Dame Maggie Smith as Misato
It'll blow those little kiddies and their parents' minds away!

Interestingly enough, I remember hearing when the first Harry Potter
movie came out that it was almost certain they would be changing
actors by the time of Prisoner of Azkaban, simply because he would
outgrow the role before production time. Seems that hasn't been the
case: they really did pick out a winner there.
Also, who would want a Shinji with the high-pitched Japanese VA voice?
As I remember, he was voiced by a woman.
Side note -- ADV said at Otakon that a script has been completed. No
word on if it's the final script.

And hey, it just showed up in an article that they're staying for GoF, too.
Right on, I say. ^_^

Hey now, don't rag on the awesomeness that is Megumi Ogata.

No script is usually the "final script" with the number of rewrites that
occur daily once shooting begins. But I tell you, I'd sure like to look at
whatever script was announced.

Not at all: impersonating the voices of children is an art. They could
have always gone the Peanuts route and used real children, although
that could be dangerous...

That's why I'm checking AICN about every other day now...

Ever seen a picture of Hideaki Anno? He could actually pass for a
slightly overweight Gendo given the right costuming...

I stuck Daniel into a picture instead of Shinji and he sort of does
the confused startled look like Shinji...
