Does anybody else in here use Opera? (7.23) I've been playing with
this thing for a couple of days and I think it kicks ass. There are a
few thing that might take a little getting used to, but one thing is
for certain, it's quick!

I'll have to try that one. Meanwhile I've been using Mozilla Firebird
0.7 as my default browser. I can't imagine anything much faster and
it's got it's own popup killer and of course neato tabbed browsing.

The coolest thing is that plugin that shows the English translation of
the kanji or Japanese word you mouse over.

Do you mean PopJisyo? http://www.popjisyo.com/WebHint/Portal_e.aspx

That works with almost any browser though. Or is there something else
new and cool that I'm missing? Do tell.

yeah, me ... we use it here for testing our pages for compliance. I use IE a
bit, but like the 'gestures' available with Opera

It very well may have come pre-installed on one of your HDs. It's
clearly labeled. Let me know if you can't find it.

I found it. Right next to Bumfights II.

You should try Firebird/Mozilla.

Have a look here for somme needed basic configuration :
http://www.mozilla.org/start/1.0/faq/browser.html#2.3

And the Moji extension of course.
http://moji.mozdev.org/

And if you do want Opera like gesture :
http://optimoz.mozdev.org/

Make sure you download and install Jslib first and that you also
download the kanji dictionary (available at the Moji installation
page). Then just press ctl-M when you have a Japanese page loaded and
the Moji sidebar will appear. Select any kanji or series of kanjis and
then press the lookup button on top of the Moji sidebar. I had some
trouble at first getting it working too.

Oh yeah, and before you try using Moji you need to go into the
Firebird setup, plugins and configure Moji by pointing it to where
you've saved the dictionary files.

Even with the moden theme ? Try firebird if you don't like it or don't
need the mail part.

Maybe you'd be better with 1.5, instead of 1.6a. I don't know about the
official 1.6a , but the nightly I downloaded a few days ago is
definitively unstable ...

Maybe we need an detailled installation page.

Definately. It says JSLib is needed. I click on JSLib, it downloads and
installs automatically. I than click on moji and it installs automatically
as well. I than download eng-kanji dict. file. What do I do with this? I
can't find the configuration page, or any setup screen other than
preferences menu item. Ctrl-M fires mail client.

Just extract the dictionary files to any folder. I just made one
called c:\engdict

Then in Firebird>Tools>Options>Extensions>Moji>Options you will find
the place to point Moji to the directory where you've saved the
dictionary files. Then you will be in business.

I've actually found the toolbar buttons the Moji extension adds for
Rikai.com and Popjisyo for mouseover kanji definitions more useful
thus far. That is brilliant. Go to View>Toolbars>Customize in Firebird
and you should see those toolbar items. Just drag them to your
toolbar.

Firebird is just excellent.

Just to confirm: Moji only works with Firebird, not with Mozilla. On
Mozilla it will appear to install, but then nothing happens.

It turns out I's poking the wrong hole... Mozilla and Firebird turned out to
be different things. Mine is 1.6 GTI while yours is Firebird
