Lisa Bradley from Derry won Northern Ireland's first ever Silver medal in Judo
and the first silver medal -only the 3rd medal for NI - at this weeks
Commonwealth Games in Manchester England.
Judo has not been in the Games proper for 12 years when Belfastman Colin Savage
and Joyce Malley from Dungannon each won Bronzes in Auckland NZ although the
Commonwealth nations regularly hold Championships.

Lisa's silver medal at u52kilos on the first day (Tuesday 30 July) of
competition came from 2 wins and then defeat in the final by European champion
Georgina Singleton of England.
In the Northern Ireland multi sport team, Lisa's 2 victories and one by
Bangorman Scott Mayne in the u66Kilo before exiting in repechage after 2
losses, has however outshone the NI media darlings of Track&Field and Boxing
who have had a dismal Games in Manchester. The remainder of the NI Judo team
fight today and tomorrow with Lisa's silver light leading to more outstanding
performances and medals.
