Is there any reason to have multiple pagefiles?

I happened to be checking out our PDC for another reason on Saturday
and noticed a 512-610 in 2GB C drive and 4 others, each 256-512, on 4
8GB drives in a RAID 5 configuration.

I figured I'd ask here -LOL- rather than look stupid in front of the
genius' I work with.

Thanks.

Yes. It is the best layout for the pagefiles.
Multiple spindles (lots of drives), is the fastest way to layout the
pagefile area.

In article <3B5AD4BD...@hotmail.com>, scoc...@hotmail.com says...

If each of the drive/partitions are separate physical drives, then it
can improve performance. It's best for separate SCSI drives, or IDE
drives on SEPARATE channels (master and slave on the channel cannot
transfer data at the same time.) It's also generally best that they be
put in the first partition, which is most often at the outside (fastest)
part of current hard drives.

If it's just a single RAID5 array, no matter how many drives, then you
may be getting worse performace depending on just how the RAID data is
physically spread across the drives.
