KSFO, our own local hate-talk radio station right in the heart of "Gay
Mecca", also has hosts who allow callers to use the word "fag",
"faggot", "homo" and other anti-gay slurs. One is the notorious
Michael Savage, who has had his show for over five years now...and he
is constantly bashing gay people. While he does not use antigay words
himself, he does not stop callers from using them...even though he
doesn't allow them to use hateful terms against any other minority.
His ploy is to foment further gay hatred in San Francisco...and by the
looks of it, he's doing a bang-up job. I frequently run into homeless
people spewing the very same phrases from his show...and this is
certainly no coincidence.
And that's just the homeless. I can only imagine how these hateful
shows are impacting many homes and neighborhoods throughout our unfair
city! But I'm sure the increase in gay bashing these last few years,
are due in large measure, to KSFO...in addition to the general
Amerikan swing to the extreme right.
