Bazza. I read this as an attempt by 'maria' to sabotage the ntlworld
Registration Server because she is bitter that ex C&W customers cannot yet
get ntlworld0800. It also appears to be encouraging others to do likewise.
This is one of the reasons ntl did not wish the information to be broadcast.

Good point. I guess if I was one of them I would be disappointed at the
delay in getting 'ntlworld0800'
But I would not go to the lengths of attacking the service to the detriment
of other legitimate Users.

AFAIK ex C&W customers still retain any benefits of internet access they had
which were available to them previously which were not available to ntl
customers.

I have a friend on C&W who has been told the 0800 ntl service is to be
extended to him under the banner of ntl-lite. Worrying thing is he was also
told it was because ntlworld was being phased out. Have to wait and see what
( if anything ) comes of this !

What benefits could you mean?
Possibly c&w connect? Ntl has decided to scrap this, because,
according to them "It no longer gives the customer good value for money."
Now, all they offer their customers is the more expensive option of PAYG.

Ntl customers where not c&w customers.
but those c&w customers are now ntl customers.

Excellent idea Maria, but you know, for some reason
it gives you more pleasure in the evening, especially
between 6pm & 10 pm.
Four hours of wonder, and don't forget, being ntl,
it's also interactive.
Doncha just love ntl.

I am a C&W customer who has recently been offered
ntlworld.
I was previously on the C&W Connect 75 tarriff
until 2 weeks ago when I received a phone call
from ntl customer services offering me ntlworld
since I was a C&W customer.
no mention was made of phasing out ntlworld or
ntl-lite (whatever that is!).
and here I am 2 weeks later, fully set up and, for
the record, very happy with ntl's service.

Lisa. Can you confirm you are on the ntlworld0800 free service dialling up
on 0800 5190100 on an ex C&W cable phone line? Which CD did you use?

According to all previous posts I have seen this is not expected to be
available until next spring. Perhaps things are different in Scotland.

I'd be interested to know if it's the 0845 number or the 0800 number too!
Also, how the helll do you get NTL lite for FREE out of NTL. Come to think
of it, how do you get a straigh answer or the time of day from NTL without
at least ten lies?

Maybe, but remember that there is no known record of ANYONE in NTL/CWC ever
telling the truth on anything.

The only ex c&w customers being offered ntlworld are those that
have a bt line & previously connected to c&w via the
access/short code 132, they now use the ntl 1261 access
code, as can any other BT customer.
No ntl cable phone customer in an ex c&w franchise
has access to ntlworld.

That was my understanding also, but Lisa appeared to be implying that she
had ntlworld access on an ex C&W (now ntl) cable line. That is what I was
seeking clarification of.

Hmm, the plot thickens - really have to get in contact with the guy and find
out *exactly* what he's been told then. Don't think he'd appreciate a call
this time of night though :-)

BTW - Nice addy munging !!

All she said was that she was a c&w customer on
the c&w Connect 75 tariff, which was available to bt
customers as well as cabled customers.

ntl are currently contacting all bt customers who use the
c&w 132 access code to try and persuade them
to change over to the ntl 1-2-3 tariff with the offer
of free access if they spend £10 a month, disks now
take an average of 7-14 days to arrive.

This is despite their claims to cabled customers
that they are not actively targeting new subscribers,
and they are definitely not phoning cabled customers.

Hi
Thanks for your recent email.

You can stay connected overnight by redialling each time
and this wont be seen as abuse of the service.

I hope this helps to answer your queries. Should you need further

They received the same message as you,
they decided it was not an abuse of the service.
If they felt it was "sabotage" I'm sure they would
consider it an abuse.
They obviously believe my intentions are
honourable, so why don't you?

Just posting a copy of my message sent to ntl,
nothing sinister. Also letting other c&w users know
that they do have free access, if somewhat limited, to ntl.

It is also ideal if you don't want to be disturbed.
Set your modem to constantly redial ntl

Tel Number: 0800 5190150

Password: 6661066

& let your voicemail take your messages.
( free on all ex c&w tariffs, except LocalCall at
£1 a month) Another great service from ntl.

Exactly, existing users will not be affected in any way whatsoever. So what
is the point - ensure the existing userbase doesn't see any degredation of
service ?
