You know how a guy's gotta go real bad, and can't find a restroom
anywhere near? So what does he do, in desperation? Find the nearest
bush and take a dump on it! And that is precisely what I believe we
need to do NOW, regarding the brainless bush who thinks he runs this
show.
We need a vast, fully-armed militia of loyal patriots--with gay men
and women in positions of leadership--to march on the White House,
take it over, and surrender all prisoners (Bush and the Presidential
Staff) into the highest-security lockup possible, that they may do no
more mischief, ever again. I am NOT proposing any violence (except in
self defense, of course, as a last resort), assassination, or threat
of such. However, I am proposing the overthrow of our present
government, per the dictates of our brilliant manifesto: "Ernest Goes
to the Bathroom". Allow me to quote from that most noble, most
patriotic document of all time:

The usurpation of government must happen on a massive, unified scale
unheard of since World War II's underground resistance. (Warning: any
such attempts to create a militia that excludes homosexuals, shall
perish abruptly.) Local militias everywhere must take out those
government centers known to harbor Enemies of Democracy. It would be a
grievous error and malicious act, to attack those aspects of our
government that continue to serve her citizens in equitable fashion.
This means: protect and cherish our libraries, social services, and
other benevolent gov't-supported groups and institutions. (Be warned:
Any such groups that harbor homophobic ideas are to be tagged
immediately as enemy, and shut down. So there will surely be some
cases where this enemy occupies a library or school, here and
there...but they are the exception, not the rule).
I have no doubt in my mind, that many in Amerika are totally aligned
with my own feelings, and only need my voice to stir us into the
necessary actions to regain our beloved democracy...and to nurture it
further into fulfillment of our ideals. (Remember this: a true
Amerikan is one who cherishes *all nations, *all peoples, and *all
beliefs, as part of this great diversity of the Family of Man. And
that, since we are all brothers and sisters under the Sun, there is
really nothing we can't work out together, if we only simmer down.
We're FAMILY, dudes!)
But in this New Amerika will be our contract for homosexual
liberation, as the price to pay for the salvation of our nation. For
it is up to us gay folk, whether or not we lift a finger to save
Amerika from the abyss of horror she so well deserves. We will also
have our own queer nation, "Athenia", which shall occupy what is now
called Northern California, down to the lattitude where the County of
Santa Cruz abuts that of Monterey.
I may go to prison for what I have proposed; even possibly be charged
with treason, and put to death. But as a loyal patriot, as well as an
advocate for the houseless, and freelance gay activist: I am dedicated
to my beliefs 100%. And if I waited for someone else to take this hot
potato and propose insurrection to the public...well, I just could
never live with myself, any more. However, I would not be surprised at
all, if many others are inspired in like manner, and have already
posted articles similar to mine, on Usenet.
The bloodless coup of the Religious Reich, that gave "W" the
presidency, must now be answered with yet another coup, to get back
what we suddenly lost...and then we may begin to right all the wrongs
committed by that treasonous Bush/Satan office. I suggest that we
reinstate former Pres. Clinton's people, until such time The War has
ended, and we can resume the usual ballot process. I believe we
already have more than enough good citizens, right there in our
nation's capital, to pull off such a coup. Let my militia be known as
"The Blue Rose"...which insignia shall identify these loyal soldiers.
May Yom Kippur bless you in abundance with those things that matter
most: friendship, trust, joy, compassion, health, sanity, devotion,
loyalty, and Queer Liberation. (And, of course, a little ganja each
and every day, to tide things over.)

the writing or publishing any libel aforesaid, it shall be lawful for the

the jury who shall try the cause, shall have a right to determine the law
and the fact, under the direction of the court, as in other cases.

Fourth, there is a difference betwen criticism, and a nonsensical rant.
Fifth, the Sedition Act labeled such rants as only a Misdemeanor.
Sixth, the Act only covered "false, scandalous and malicious writing or
writings against the government of the United States" ... IOW, since this
law only covers falsehoods, which are not protected as speech under the
first amendment, there should be no problem.
Seventh, This act essentially only declared Libel as unprotected speech...
which is black letter law.
Eighth, this act would not apply if the speech being charged against can be
proved to be true...
What the Sedition Act REALLY does is put really pressure on people to not
shoot off at the mouth... If you have real criticism of the government you
are good to go... If you make up lies against the gov't, then you are going
down.

I would think that a fundamentalist-right-wing office such as W's,
would want to reinstate such a measure...being the zealots they are,
in their maniac urges to slam down anything that smacks of

On July 14 President John Adams signed a law blandly titled "Act for
the Punishment of Certain Crimes." Then as now, it was better known as
the Sedition Act, and if still in force today, its provisions would
make criminals out of every newspaper columnist, standup comedian, and
barstool philosopher in America, for the act made it illegal to
"write, print, utter or publish . . . any false, scandalous, and
malicious writing or writings against the government of the United
States, or the President of the United States."
The act broke no new legal ground, for sedition was already a crime in
every state under common law. The Sedition Act was actually less
severe than the common-law provisions because it let a jury decide
whether a statement was libelous, required proof of malice, and
(supposedly) allowed truth as a defense. The key feature of the new
law was its grant of jurisdiction to the federal government. Now
anybody anywhere in the country who criticized the President or
Congress could be hauled into federal court and thrown in jail.
Adams's Federalist party, which controlled both houses of Congress,
had passed the bill as part of a ham-fisted campaign to suppress its
opponents in the guise of protecting the country. Yet many Federalists
sincerely saw no difference between these two goals, and more than
simple lust for power lay behind the act. Today not even the most
partisan politicians question their rivals' acceptance of democracy
and the Constitution. But in the 1790s, when both these things were
new and untested, each party seriously suspected the other of wanting
to place the United States under the sway of a foreign country.
The Anti-Federalists (also called Republicans, but no relation to the
modern party of that name) thought their aristocratic rivals wanted to
undo the Revolution and reunite America with Britain. The Federalists,
in turn, feared the Republicans would deliver America into the hands
of guillotine-happy French radicals. Now Britain and France were at
war, and with the French plundering our ships and insulting our
diplomats, war between America and France seemed imminent as well.
The French were everything the Federalists despised: egalitarian (in
theory, at least), atheist (or what many considered worse, Catholic),
and anti-British. The Federalists worried that America's masses would
be easy prey for French propaganda. So, as American governments would
do in many future wars, they restricted civil liberties to ensure
national unity. Yet there was no war with France—nor, as things turned
out, would there be one. And the Federalists made clear the act's
partisan nature by excluding the Republican Vice President, Thomas
Jefferson, from its provisions and by setting an expiration date of
March 3, 1801, the last day of Adams's term.
The Sedition Act succeeded only in making the Federalists look silly.
Secretary of State Timothy Pickering spent his days hunched over
copies of opposition newspapers, searching for a pretext to shut them
down. In Dedham, Massachusetts, citizens who erected a "liberty pole"
with a sign reading DOWNFALL TO THE TYRANTS OF AMERICA were convicted
under the act. In Otsego County, New York, Jedidiah Peck was arrested
for circulating a petition against the legislation. When he was
brought to New York City for jailing, citizens lined up to cheer him
all along the route.
In all, there were twenty-five arrests, twelve trials, and eleven
convictions under the act, each one eliciting a fresh torrent of
protest to help revive the faltering Republican press. Meanwhile, the
French threat fizzled out—partly, to be sure, because of Federalist
war measures. In the 1800 elections the Republicans took control of
the Presidency and both houses
of Congress. They would not relinquish it until long after the
Federalists had passed from the scene.

know that most of us queers respect you straight guys and we DON'T agree

THE NEW PASSOVER HAS BEGUN

There is a phenomenon I predicted a couple of years ago, in
the Internet newsgroups, that I call the "New Passover". This
vision revealed God (or "Nature") avenging gay people by
slaying the firstborn of every homophobic parent. (The
original Passover saw the Angel of Death slaughter the
firstborn of every Egyptian family, in order to free the
Hebrews.) It has only dawned on me a few days ago, that this
NEW PASSOVER IS ALREADY UNDER WAY: ravaging the troubled
nations of Africa. These are all areas rife with gay hatred.
This form of AIDS only strikes heteros...and only those who
stubbornly hold onto their homophobia unto the last breath.
How (you might ask) could a virus distinguish between gay
haters and gay friends? Of course, if you are spiritual in
nature, like myself, the answer is easy: "God can do
anything". However, there are also those who demand a
scientific explanation, which I now attempt:
There may be a genetic tendency toward stupidity. And it is
stupid folk who are more likely to believe the homophobic
brainwash of their churches, synagogues, mosques and covens.
Thus, a virus evolves that attacks only the stupid, who are
also heterosexual.
While AIDS ravaged gay people, the hetero majority for the
most part thought: "Let 'em die, those faggots deserve it
anyway"...never dreaming for one moment, that perhaps their
karma would come back to haunt them. And that is exactly what
has started to happen. IN A FEW MONTHS, OR EVEN WEEKS, HETERO
AIDS WILL REACH THE SHORES OF ASIA, EUROPE, AND FINALLY,
AMERIKA...WHERE IT WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE ENTIRE POPULACE,
decimating at least 35% of the entire hetero population.
Certain gay activists such as Cleve Jones, sound alarmed and
disgusted at the lack of support coming from gay people, for
the crisis of AIDS in South Africa and other non-white areas.
(See POZ magazine, Sept. 2000, "Keeping Up With The Jones",
pg. 64.) But this has nothing to do with skin color, and
everything to do with extreme, homophobic attitudes among many
cultures afflicted with run-away AIDS. WHY SHOULD WE NOW LIFT
A FINGER TO HELP THESE FOLKS, WHEN THEY MERELY SAT BACK AND
LAUGHED AT US, WHILE AIDS RAVAGED OUR FINEST AND MOST
LOVED? Why not let Gaia do Her cleansing of humanity,
rather than slow down the process of eliminating our enemies?
Fine with me, if you want to help educate South Africa about
AIDS prevention, Mr. Jones (et al). But please, don't lay an
insincere guilt trip on your gay brothers! Maybe we're too
exhausted fighting our own enormously painful battles against
Amerika's homophobic sanctions (not the least of which was
enacted by our first "gay-friendly" president, Clinton, who
signed DOMA, the infamous "Defense of Marriage Act"). It's all
well and good for Slick Willy to denounce the right wing's
homophobia. But what about his own, I ask? Maybe we already
know this: ANY HOMOPHOBE WE ASSIST TO RECOVERY AND A LONG
LIFE, WILL SURELY CONTINUE TO FLAGRANTLY BASH US ONCE HE'S
BACK ON HIS FEET...thus only makes our chances for
peaceful coexistence with heteros that much more tenuous.
Let 'em die, I say. And the nicest part of all this, is that
_Hetero AIDS will likely evolve into an airborn virus_, that
God's angels may perform their cleansing tasks that much more
quickly. Let us not forget that MOST HOMOPHOBES ARE ALSO
CHILD ABUSERS, WIFE BEATERS, RAPISTS, AND WAR MONGERS. So
celebrate your "New Passover", and thank your deity (whoever
she or he may be), for finally liberating us long-suffering
and devoted gay men and women. REJOICE, FOR SOON COMES "NEW
HANUKKAH"!
There also remains this massive problem among African Amerikan
churches: that so many of them still preach hatred of gay
people. Well, I'm not asking you blacks to help "Whitey"; and
I don't blame you for not doing so. However, please admit that
you have your own brothers and sisters of color who are indeed
homosexual! For Christ's sake, stop harassing and villifying
them: extend, finally, open arms and an open heart. For they
are Family, too. Look at it this way: Does the black community
really want to become cursed for eternity, with the ugly stain
of gay hatred on their otherwise-noble history of struggles
and liberation? I think not. So get the lead out of your
collective black asses, and do the right thing.

weaker then most of the state laws that existed at the time...
Realistically, this law is irrelevent, as everything cited below is already
