Hello everyone! I had an experience many years ago that left a very
profound feeling in my heart, although I'm not sure what end to make
of it. Perhaps one of you could help me understand what it means, if
anything. Well, it happened when I was 13, ten years ago. I was on
a camping trip with the "Institute for High Potential Students"
through Quebec and Maine, studying marine life, tidal pools and such.
I made friends with a very outgoing girl. Problem was, she was obese.
All the others ridiculed her and made her feel dejected, utterly
worthless. I defended her and was persecuted myself (taunts such as
"the more the cushion, the more the pushin" to me whilst she was in
earshot). I felt friendless and angry at such a cruel world. That
night, I left the campsite to heed the call of nature. I was walking
alone through this dark forest when all of a sudden, I heard a growl
off to my side. I looked over and saw the brush part as a huge white
wolf charged me. I took out my jacknife and prepared for it to leap
at me. Instead, it kept circling me. I turned with the wolf, afraid
of the consequences of turning my back on it. After circling for what
seemed like an eternity, it stopped and looked at me. Then it started
circling again. Then it stopped and looked at me again. I stared
back. Suddenly, I got the impression that it meant me no harm... I
walked backwards a minute then turned around and went back. Next day,
I checked with the ranger to see if any white german shepards or wolf
mixes were in the park. He said no.

Since then I've been left with a feeling that the wolf means something.
What it is I'm not sure. A few months ago I took a Reiki class (healing
using Ki, or lifeforce energy) where meditation was used frequently. In
one meditation, we sought to meet our "spirit guides." Among other
images (an eye, and a glowing figure) I saw the white wolf. After
telling my Reiki instructor of my vision and my earlier experience, she
concluded that the wolf is the Egyption god of wisdom, and that when
the wolf was staring at me it was telling me to look inside myself.

I'm interested, have any of you had similar experiences? I remember one
of you talked of seeing a vision of a crow then seeing one the next
day... I'm still curious, though. What does the wolf mean? Thanks!!!
This has been gnawing at me for years...

Eric.

The white wolf is a powerful shaman. He protects and defends the
spirit of warriors. As you defended another--who is most likely
an excellent soul--your gracious act was acknowledged and honored
by the presence of the white wolf. He blessed you by marking a
circle of protection around you...to signify his protective force
will be with you forevermore. (By the white, the white wolf is
not necessarily a masculine symbol. After all, the mother of
numerous species is highly protective of her innocent young.)

Do you still see this woman? I have a hunch that she was a
spirit who came to test your mettle...in a sense, that makes her
the white wolf's messenger. She may even have been the white
wolf in disguise. Or she is very important, spiritually, in some
other way...which you may come to know, if not already.

The white wolf is prince of warriors. Surely, to be honored by
him, you must have performed many valorous deeds in your life,
not just that one you mentioned. If it so pleases you, I
recommend you set aside a small alter for meditation...and on
this alter include a picture, or some other icon in the image of
a white wolf. Light a white candle on the altar during
meditation, and perhaps burn some Native American herb for
incense (sweet grass is nice). Thank the white wolf for his
friendship, then clear your mind for a few minutes, to let the
warrior essence refuel your soul.

How do I know these things? Well, I'm certainly no expert, and
don't have references right at my fingertips. The knowledge
comes to me as a gift, along with my years of study in Native
American cultures. Carl Jung's teachings have also played a
major role in my spiritual awakenings. You may take this or
leave it, as you wish...this is only the rantings of
a trickster.
