Hello,

Just got a surprise charge to my debit card of 79.95 from consumerinfo.com.
They advertised a free credit report so I signed up. Got the email but you
needed the passcode that you would receive in the us mail... never got the
mail so never got the report but they signed me up for the full service and
unknowingly charged my debit card. I called for a refund they will pro-rate
the refund and cancel my account. I feel they should give me the entire
amount back.

Look out for these crooks.

You obviously did not read the application. You got what you deserve.

Their 'free' report is contingent on you signing up for their annual
'service' during which you have 30 days to cancel. You did not cancel.

End of story.

Not so. Note that they did not send the promised email giving access to the
report. Their tactics usually is to send the passcode in the very last day
of the "free trial", but sometimes they miss the date.

Hopefully, FTC some day will look at their direction. The only pity is, even
if they get sued, the result will be some "settlement", while it should be a
jail.
