This isn't a proper meet report as the meet is still going on and I'm
sure that someone better qualified will do that. ( Anyway, the half hour
after 8pm passed in rather a daze, an explanation for this is bound to
be in the meet report! :-) )

Anyway, thanks to Alex for organising a wonderful meet. It was nice to
put faces to a few more names and my new T-shirt seemed to go down well.
Mind you so did the chocolate!

Thanks again all and hope to see you at the mini-meet after the Nov.
12th signing.

Mart.

And the meet still continues....

Continuing at Mary's house we have:

Mary Capel (choc)
Darren Capel
Alex Page
Charles Cooke
and
Leon Bubb

And staying at Stu's house (joining us as soon as my lazy lot get up)
we have:

Stu Harvie
and
Kevin Hackett

The meet is set to continue once people surface from their slumbers - it
was well after 4am when we got to bed, finally.

So, roast Sunday dinner at, or near (since I'm not sure my chicken will
feed 7) my house, and later in the day the meet is moving on to Alex's
house I believe.

Don't you just wish you were here? <grin>

Now, whilst I wait for my house guests to emerge from their beds, where
did I put that bottle of wine? After all it's half past ten already and
I'm wasting valuable drinking time :).

TO BE CONTINUED....

And from the Bedford mini-beer-festival-meet... [1]

Just got rid of the house-guests about an hour ago after a breakfast of
croissants, pains-au-chocolate and toast... oh and tea/coffee to taste.
I think we had a good time <g>. Much geeking happened. Much beer/cider
was drunk... says it all really.

Sorry Bedford - you've been out-done....

the Manchester meet is still continuing at Mary's place (not sure we'll
get to Alex's house at all, since the Blakes 7 videos were discovered :)

More drinking planned, as is a game or 2 of trivial pursuit.

So far most quotes from me, Mary, not bad for my first meet I think!

Attendees still remaining:

Mary (choc / chocfudgecake)
Darren
Alex
Kevin

and Stu hopefully returning soon for the triv games and more wine.

Ok, well, it's 11.15pm and the meet is still in progress and still at my
house.

Things have developed -

Alex is wearing my french maids outfit and very fetching feather boa.

The quote file is six sides so far.

Attendees:

Mary
Darren
Alex
Kevin
Stu.

The fun continues as we play trivial pursuit and finish off the beer,
wine and vodka...

Goodness me and great steaming widgets of kludge - that many quotes
in a meeting in which Peter wasn't even present? I am seriously
impressed. :-)

Yes, and the person with the most on that list is probably me i think:)

Anyway, just to let you all know, the meet has just ended, after a
record (?) 42 hours.... it certainly was the answer to life the
universe and everything.

Darren, Alex and Kevin have just left to travel (in Kev's case quite a
distance) to work, hopefully just in time and not smelling too much for
a third day in the same clothes.

It's been great to meet you all - especially good scince i was attending
a meet for the first time and ended up having 30 hours of the 42 based
at my house, AND doing the most quotes, AND letting a man i just met
wander round my house in my lingerie... long live afp meets!

See you all again soon,

Or failing that, it was certainly a good kick in the arse to any
notions of decency and sobriety :)

Although some of us changed clothes at times...

Amen to that!

The 6 and a half sides of A4 which constitute the Quote File are being
edited for length and decency constraints, and notes have been jotted
for the meet report, tho' my memory isn't *brilliant* so if people want
to remind me of anything they'd *really* like to see in there, feel
free to mail me...

Sorry, the record is much greater than that, at a week :-)

This was the afp-holiday, organised by my lovely wife, and held over the
summer.

Reykjavik-1.0 matched that. Quorate for a week, at least technically.

Join the crowd. I'm suffering from a really serious cold which I seem
to have developed on Friday as well. I headed into Manchester, but got
all the times & places wrong. I know, I should have doubled checked
the group but I trusted my memory.

Anyway it's probably a good thing that I couldn't/didn't make it as my
cold come Saturday night was horrendous. Even got a bad case of the
shivers on Sunday night. :-( Looking for sympathy from all except
Bernard who I know won't give me any. ;-)

I got to Dewsbury just in time to be 2 minutes early for work... I
actually got home about an hour ago. A whole weekend of talking,
alcohol and Blake's 7 in equal proprtions and about 6-7 hours sleep. Oh
boy, you've got to try it!

Can I just nominate Mary for afpsainthood? Luckily it's not the same as
sainthood, because I can still remember some of the... recreational
accessories... that were discussed ;-p.

I would like to offer my most heartfelt thanks to Mary and Darren for
going to their first afpmeet expecting a few hours at the pub and
getting a weekend of strange men staying at their house. You were
perfect hosts, not even complaining when I broke a glass (the only empty
one on the table, furthest from me, which has to be some sort of trick),
sedating us with a boundless supply of Blake's 7 (some characters from
which made it into the Quote File), and putting up with far more wibble
than they could ever have expected. I would marry you both and have
your children, but you're already married and I don't have the equipment
to have babies (except for a few hours on the weekend). Thank you

And can I also thank Stu for the wine and hospitality (both in
abundance), and for letting me hang around and watch TV with Planck
until everyone else had woken up. You have some seriously big dogs
there.

>, AND doing the most quotes,

Bear in mind that for each rude thing she said in innocence, there were
at least as many not quoted because she meant them!! (and !!! even) <eg>

>AND letting a man i just met
>wander round my house in my lingerie... long live afp meets!

Hey, can I just say that that was the first time I've been led by the
hand to the bedroom by a man dressed in a French Maid's outfit and boxer
shorts...

Quite an innuendo-prone (ooer) time was had by all (fnarr). I mean, if
even the Trivial Pursuit game comes up with questions like 'What is
another name for pocket billiards?' and 'Which countries lay claim to
the Carribean Virgins?', you know you're in trouble.

This was an experience. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: We
must do this more often. Well, what I usually said was 'Erm... let me
rephrase that' or '... I'm sorry, what was I saying again?' [1] but
after that comes 'We must do this more often'.

I'm going to try and remember what sleep feels like (red wine and no
sleep makes Kevin a slow worker or an above-average zombie).

Cheers,
Kevin
Not many people can say they spent all night watching TV stroking

[1] I can think of two things at the same time, but some of the things
being said were rather distracting in their mental imagery. Not to
mention intriguing
