I have an NLM which is hung and cannot get to the
console prompt. Seeing as this is the case, I cannot
type down, or anything else on the console.

Any alternative other than simply resetting the server?

If You have a station logged in as supervisor You can use FCONSOLE to
down the server.

In article <5B215...@ny027.wan.pace.edu>,
use FCONSOLE to down the fileserver.

otherwise, unplug the network cable, wait until the server's HD
stops being active, press reset, and optionally run vrepair.

Login as a supervisor or supervisor equivilant. Run the fconsole utility then
use the Down Server option. This works for me somtimes.
