Does anyone know the name of the font used on the 1956 self-titled LP
ELVIS PRESELY (or something close)? It is also used on the CLASH's
London Calling.

http://allmusic.com/cg/x.dll?p=amg&sql=A47074 <-- Elvis LP
http://allmusic.com/cg/x.dll?p=amg&sql=A4095 <-- Clash

thanks!

You mean the font on the cover of London Calling, where it's "London
Calling" pink & green? Boy, that's a good question. I've been all through my
font book & I can't find anything like that G. Let me know if you find out.
The closest ones I find are Eagle Bold, Boink, Bonita, and MN Squash. But
they're all wrong in one way or another.

Don't think it's actually a font - not YET, anyway...probably an
original hand-lettered deal for the Elvis LP, then mimicked by Ray Lowry
for LC, but I would guess with confidence a full alphabet doesn't exist
until someone gets creative and draws one up.

I ended up using AdLib, which is blocky on the inside of the letter,
but is very close on the outside shape.
