Bloody Hell.
What a weekend. My very first Meet, and I just left it around Midnight
tonight..
I am a bit knackered but have to take the time to post this before slipping
into a welcoming coma.
Errr...Stuck for words actually.Had my (previously battered) faith in
humanity restored this weekend and want to say thanks for a fantastic time
to lots of people,* deep breath*
Pam,(Choc coinessieur and world champ hugger) Naomi, Alex, Doofer, Andy,
Sarah(fending them off) Kevin, Charles, Leon, Slav, Mart( being fended) Mary
and Darren(thanks for the hospitality folks, and for turning Alex into the
worlds biggest Action man/Barbie doll hybrid...)
And Chorus of Goths, Dwarves and 1000 elephants!!!!
Alright. Goths.
So....Who's up for a Pint then?
Cheers
Stu.

Oh bugger!

I got the impression that the exact opposite was true.

Do the rest of you that were there think that Stu is right?

Actually, the fact that Sarah has disappeared from here since the meet
makes me think he is.

not being on group since - she's working you know.

It means to insert the [M] in the subject line above. This is
a device for those of us without the time and inclination to
read everything on afp every time; it makes it possible to
easily distinguish between Relevant, Irrelevant, etc. posts.
The original, e.g., should've had [F] for Fan activity.

All this and much more information, including what other tags
we use and more reasoning behind the whole process, can be
found on the unoverestimable L-Space Web, at
<http://www.lspace.org/faqs>. The one you want is the faq
called [M][I][G][R][A][F].

Sorry Martin!
Not what I was trying to get at at all, I was just attempting to point out
that Sarah was a bit of a hit all round..:-) Purely a figure of speech... as
in "beating them off with a shitty stick" as we say here in sophisticated
Withington.
I think that if anyone made an arse of himself, I would have to be that
Arse.... Hic!
Once again Deepest Apologies.

Yep, first Cookie and now me... what is it about big guys being forced

Sundry and various... some of them are even AFPers (Steph, the lovely

MancAFPmeet to me in a goth club...)

How would a woman crossdress? Wear a shirt and jeans? A three-piece suit
with tie?

I kind of doubt it would have quite the same impact...

Yep. Though not those shaped for women. Also add false facial hair, or
fake stubble, and padding/strapping to change body shape.

Socks in brief and that sort of thing?
I guess that would make sense, since from what I've heard it's something men
occasionally do... <g>

Hmm, the idea was posited on the Manchester goth list, except that one
of the posters (a regular crossdresser) was required to come along in a
pair of trousers, because we felt he should make a similar effort to
the rest of us...

Sorry, wasn't intending to worry anyone by my temporary lack of posts. I post
to another high-volume ng, am hopelessly behind on both there and here at the
moment, & alternate between the two in a (totally fruitless) attempt to avoid
falling too far behind. Yesterday, as it happens, I was on there, while
lurking briefly on here to look out for Manc afpmeet reports. Figured I
wouldn't miss too much in a day, only to come back and find people declaring
cabbages at dawn over me. It's all go round here, isn't it? [1]

As to the post subject, I wouldn't personally say that any particular fending
was going on on anyone's part that day, just some general fun being had by all
concerned [2]. Believe me, if I feel the need to fend anyone I make it clear
that fending is what's going on. I am quite capable of unambiguous fends where
called for.

As to the general fun, I personally would consider it as, well, general fun,
and all part of the getting-to-know-afpers thing rather than as anything that I
would take or want taken too seriously. I realise that this is a YMMV sort of
area, so I apologise if my attitude here causes any hurt feelings. Personally,
I had an enjoyable day and shall leave it at that.

Thanks for the T-shirt!

[1] I'm still several hundred posts behind, just trying to pick up the titles
of the ones that look important. So my apologies if I'm leaving anything else
unanswered for what seems like an excessive time.

[2] Which is to say, it was general fun as far as I was concerned, and I got
the general impression that it was fun for the others concerned.

All the best,

Sarah
