<sl...@ix.netcom.com> quoted Troy Perry:

<<
President Theodore Roosevelt once said, "The American people are slow
to anger. But once their anger is kindled, it burns like a consuming
fire."
>>

It should have started burning once Prez Clinton signed DOMA. I know
*I sure burned over that one, and am still blazing! However as the old
saying goes: "Better late than never".

Though many good lives have been lost in the waiting.

<<
However, as we move toward apparent approval of this
proposal, we must also focus upon ensuring that the federal
government administers this program with neutrality,
non-discrimination, and openness to all religious groups.
>>

I applaud the MCC for its promise to be a vigilant watch dog for our
community. But they are just fooling themselves. This is no Bingo
game; we are at war.

I haven't witnessed any gay bashing right before my very own eyes in a
long, long time, either. But that doesn't mean it isn't going on. And
the pro-gay laws being dissolved across this nation is a fact. DOMA is
a fact, as is DADT. Faith-based inititiative is a fact. Bush as
wrongful President is a fact. Yet none of these actions have taken
place before my eyes.

We are a society at war against its own gay populace, ready to
scapegoat us for all of our social ills...including the oncoming 2nd
Great Depression.

Do you really think our enemies are going to sit down and spell it out
for us: WAR? Will you wait until you yourself are bashed, before
taking up arms? By then, my friend, it will be too late.

<<
What have you done recently to help the CAUSE.
>>

A hell of a lot...and for many years, I might add (since 1973 to be
precise). Besides participating in newsgroups where I support our
cause, and confront homophobes...my website is dedicated to Gay
Freedom on a global level, and accepts contributions from any LGBT
anywhere in the world. I give particular welcome to our own
marginalized members, such as the homeless, disabled, gays of color,
war veterans, etc.

I am reaching out to our own gay brothers who are homeless, here on
the streets of San Francisco...regardless of whether or not they are
addicts. I give them all the respect and love I can muster, since I am
short on money. Sometimes I adopt one, as I am now...a guy who's been
on the road since 1992...broken family, foster homes...but thanks to
me, he now has a stable home to come to. He is very smart, clean,
doesn't mess with hard drugs or alcohol...a true soldier. I've
introduced him to my other homeless friends, that he may quickly be
networked, since he's never been to S.F. before.

When I can afford it, I bake whole-grain snacks for my homeless
friends. I also give them hope, and belief in themselves to rise above
any present difficulties. I am creating an underground "family" so to
speak: a network whereby my homeless buddies can find friendship,
stability, and fun...rather than sheer misery day in and day out. And,
it is working! I am seeing a lot more smiles, a lot more healthy
bodies and minds.

What do I get out of this? A lot of love, I tell you. And...
protection. Nobody messes with me!

So, I just gave you a *glimpse of my pro-gay forces. I could go on,
but I am rather busy actually *accomplishing my dreams. Is this enough
for you? And what have *you done lately?
