I've driven up to Edale this morning to check out the campsite and pub
(gosh this meet organising is thirsty work).

Dates, still the 3-5th July.

Firstly, the Fieldhead Campsite which assured me that there would be
no problem in fitting us in and that there was no need to book has
only 20 spaces left for tents. This means that anyone who wants to
go should book NOW mentioning that they are part of the AFP group.
The Rambler hotel, which is where I propose we eat does a wide
selection of food, including vegitarian and spicy meals, also
childrens meals. I have a copy of the menu and they are quite
reasonably priced.

Bearing all this in mind, I would be greatful if you book the campsite
individually.

Fieldhead Campsite (01433) 670386

terms
3.20ukp/p/night
2.20ukp/under 14/night
1.10/car/night
Any queries to the campsite please.

For the Rambler, if you can let me know if you want to eat Friday
and/or Saturday evening and I'll liase with them for numbers. (Those
of you who have already done this can ignore that bit).

Revised Directions:

>From A625 through Castleton or Hathersage, turn onto the Edale Roade
in the village of Hope. Follow this road until the large car park on
the right and the T-junction. Turn right here passing under the
railway bridge (Edale station on left) passing The Rambler hotel on
the left and then on about 150yds. The turning for the campsite is on
the right, next to the Visitior Centre.

If anyone needs anything such as maps, Kendle Mint Cake or an
introduction to the history of the area, all of these are avaliable
from the National Park Visitor Centre in Edale (01433) 670207.

Other points:

I have been advised that the following is a Good Idea:

Waterproofs (note: not Showerproofs)
Warm clothing & spares (Kinder Scout summit will not be much above
freezing).
Avoid (if possible) wearing denim as it shrinks when wet and does not
dry easily.
A first aid kit.
Map (of the area) 1:50,000 scale and proper compass.
Robust walking boots.
A good torch (with new batteries)

If anyone can think of anything else then please let me know.

Sorry if this causes problems but the campsite assured me there would
not be a problem only last week.

If there are, there is another slightly dearer campsite close by,
anyone who needs the phone number, let me know.

(Hopefully) See you there.
