In what language? It doesn't seem to be English.

As far as I can tell from Google, it's a word you made up in 1996 or
earlier and for which you have been running around Usenet ever since
teasing people by asking them the meaning. In June 1997, you wrote,
"OK, I'll give you the correct pronunciation of "govende". It's
pronounced 'goo-VAIN' (yes, the 'd' is silent). It's my made-up word
that I really like -- my favorite word."

Is this your version of "Kilroy was here"? Or "Cool Disco Dan" of
Washington, DC, graffiti notoriety?

Generally 'Cool "Disco" Dan'. The tag sans quotes lacks oomph.

It means "stop exaggerating the numbers" ; )

Have you really asked that many times? That's on average one a second for
the last 74 years 180 days and 3 hours plus or minus a few seconds (taking
into account there having been at least 3 leap seconds in this period as
well as 18 leap days).

All right, maybe it was only the 335,003rd time.

For a made-up word (pace Harlen's posting), it looks suspiciously like
the Slavic root for 'beef' or 'cattle' (cf. Russian <govjadina>). And
isn't there a Sanskrit word <govinda> or something? Something from
Hinduism, IIRC.

Keith

Taking into account crossposts, I'm almost willing to believe that as
literal....r

Persistance doesn't always pay ;-)

Here we see accuracy sacrificed for precision.

There's a useful word in English for such very large numbers of
iterations: umpteenth.

Govende of course is still analagous to waltz.

Or should that be analagous _with_ ?
