X missing DRI module?

I'm having difficulties persuading Direct Rendering to work on my Woody
machine (Matrox G450 graphics card, XFree86 4.1.0.1) - all the relevant
packages appear to be there, kernel modules (kernel 2.4.9) and
XF86Config-4 appears fine (got someone else with a working Matrox G400 to
compare it with theirs).

The one thing I've been able to find is this, from
http://www.xfree86.org/4.1.0/DRI10.html#35

The DRI 3D driver for the G200/G400 should be in
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/mga_dri.so. This will be automatically loaded
by libGL.so.

mga_dri.so doesn't exist on my system, nor does the dri directory within X
modules. Is this normal for a Debian system? If not, what's the best way
to go about fixing this?

I have a G450 as well, I am running sid and I have those files. You are
missing the files.

Cheers,

Guess I'll try reinstalling XFree86 and see if that fixes it. Failing that,
I guess I
my options are upgrade to Sid XFree86 (bet that depends on half the system...)
or roll my own. Can anyone confirm that the files are there on Woody?

I'm running Woody here, and I do in fact have those files - looks like
it didn't install right.
Good luck,

Reinstalling various X packages didn't fix it, but I found the problem. I
needed xlibmesa3 instead of mesag3 Mesa libraries - the former includes
chipset specific DRI modules the latter doesn't (I'm not sure if there're
any other differences between these packages - none that are noted in
their descriptions, anyway).

Direct rendering is now working perfectly.

Many thanks for helping me get to the bottom of this :c)
