High grade (99.5+%) pharmaceutical tryptophan is available in
the US from BIOS Biochemicals. It is labeled for "pet and equine"
use, so do *not* ask questions about what dose you should take.

BIOS Biochemicals 520-749-8724
8987-309 E. Tanque Verde, Suite #340; Tucson, AZ 85749
BIOS sells powdered amino acids (including L-tryptophan) for
veterinary and pet-feed use in quantities from 50 grams to
multiple kilos. Their tryptophan is USP (pharmaceutical) grade,
greater than 99.5% purity, and is "free of pyrogen and EBT."
Call or write for a price list. You can also request a price
list by e-mail (rst...@primenet.com). They do not take
credit cards. If you have problems with the 520 area code,
try 602 (it was just changed and there have been some
technical problems that are still being ironed out).

I bought a kilo for $340. It looks and tastes identical to the best
quality Ajinomoto or Tanabe tryptophan I have ever seen. I've sent
a sample for independent analysis.
