Hear ye, hear ye, 'tis the birthday of the fair Claire-Louise Ruffle on
the 29th of March. Unfortunately, a whole load of you will be off on an
excursion to Eastercon (_so_ inconsiderate, *grin*) so the celebration
will be held the weekend after, on the 5th of April. Claire-Louise has
asked me to post the details as she doesn't have news access herself
(poor love).

Here is a potted version of instructions for the next Oxford Meet, to be
held in the VICTORIA ARMS on SATURDAY 5th APRIL from 7:30 onwards. The
landlord is a real sweetie, and if we can give him approx. numbers he
will reserve tables just for us. :)
As I have been hearing, along the grapvine, 'twould be a goodly time to
a) celebrate various engagements and b) celebrate my birthday.
Anyway, here goes . . .
FROM OXFORD RING ROAD/M40/A40
You need the A4165 into Oxford, also known as the BANBURY ROAD. Go past
SUMMERTOWN ie a collection of shops, and at the next major traffic
lights turn LEFT towards MARSTON FERRY, along the (guess what?) MARSTON
FERRY ROAD. After about a mile or so, and slowing down to 30mph because
the sign says so, and the SPEED CAMERA is generally loaded with heaps of
film, turn LEFT in MARSTON VILLAGE. Follow this road along, for a
couple of minutes, past the POST OFFICE, THE WHITE HART and THE 3
HORSESHOES (drinking establishments of fine fettle) until it curves
right, sharply. You need to go LEFT (ish) in to MILL LANE and then look
out for the pub sign that heralds the Vicky Arms.
BEWARE OF LONG DRIVE DOWN TO THE RIVER, COMPOUNDED BY MANY POT HOLES AND
NO LIGHTS!
BY TRAIN & BUS
Get on train to Oxford. Get off. Then either catch a taxi (have very
large butterfly nets available) or walk into town and ask a friendly
local to direct you to the POST OFFICE which is where most of the buses
stop. You will need either 13,14 or 14a. Ask the nice bus driver to
throw you out at the MARSTON FERRY ROAD and follow the instructons
above.
- ----8<----
Claire-Louise has also asked me to add that chocolate and small furry
animals will be extremely welcome :)
Anyone who's likely to turn up - let me know (via email, please) and
I'll pass the numbers onto Claire-Louise.
