AVCA Men's National Player of the Week
Yuval Katz, University of Hawai'i
Soph., 6-5, OH (Kibbutz Ein Hamifraz, Israel)

Yuval Katz is the AVCA Men's National Player of the Week after leading the
top-ranked Hawai'i Rainbows to two victories over second-ranked Long Beach
State. Katz totaled 77 kills, 25 digs, six blocks, four aces and a .389
hitting percentage for the week. He averaged 9.625 kills, 3.125 digs, .86
blocks and .57 aces per game in the two matches. In the first contest,
Katz posted 40 kills, 11 digs, five blocks, two aces and a .395 hitting
percentage. He had 37 kills, 14 digs, two aces, one block and a .382
hitting percentage to complete the sweep. Katz, an AVCA First-Team
All-American last year, has led the Bows in kills in all but one match
this season, while posting 30 or more kills on four occasions. Hawai'i
(10-0) is off to its best start since 1980 when the squad ran off 14
straight victories to begin the season.

The AVCA National Player of the Week award will be selected by the AVCA
staff every Monday between Jan. 29 and April 22. Players are nominated
for the award by their sports information director or head coach.
