Megchan says:

"I just talked with the girl I get my scripts for and she said that Disney
will definitely be releasing season 4 for ABC Family.

Also it seems ABC family will be having a 2 hour block of programming that
will include a lot of anime, so they will still be importing stuff."

So that clears that up.

Also, my earlier statement about Tom Wyner and that Power Rangers site was
made on a conclusion I'd jumped to - that the individual who posted that
news byte had derived the information from the Digimon fandom (the news byte
did SAY, "From Digimon fandom"), who gained said information from Wyner via
myself. In actuality, it seems that he learned it from another "internal
source" who he is unwilling to name.

However, if Disney is "definitely" showing season four, then it stands to
reason that they will complete season three from where Saban has left off.

Is good.

Is very good.

As long as they kept the same dubber team to finish the 3rd season. It
just would be confusing if the voice and accent suddenly changed in mid
season.

Probably a dumb quesiton, but...
If Disney takes over, will YTV have to negotiate a deal with Disney to
carry season 4 in Canada? I'm getting the impression that ABC Family is an
'american only' channel, that we canucks won't get.

Yes it is a dumb question. According to YTV, they negotiate the rights
to air shows independent of what happens in the US. That means that
when Season 4 airs in the US, pretty soon after (or maybe even a week
or two before) Season 4 will air in Canada in its traditional timeslots
(read: either before or after Pokémon).

Also remember that YTV already carries several Disney shows (as well as
CN shows, Nick shows, KWB shows, FK shows, and original content), and
has once carried Disney shows that are currently on CTV's (ABC's) One
Saturday Morningn. Even if YTV did, it shouldn't be too hard.

As for the French Canadian version, I don't get the French version of
Telétoon, and thus I have no idea if Digimon even airs on that channel,
much less if Season 4 will be there (if it is, then they will show it).

The only children's series that once aired on YTV and is now airing on
Telétoon that I know of is probably Classic 70s Spider-Man.

In conclusion, NO.

ABC Family is an American cable channel not available to Canadians, so?
Most of the ABC Family lineup can be seen on Canadian specialty
channels as well. Remember that American broadcast channels are
Canadian specialty channels, with UPN and the WB costing extra.

Strange that they haven't been able to show new episodes of Saban-owned
shows before their first showing on Fox, even while Fox's schedule was on
hiatus... IE, it *does* matter what happens down there as far as YTV's
shows go.

Hmmm. What Disney shows does YTV currently have? I had cable from Sept
20 'til Feb 13 and can't recall even a single Disney show on their schedule.
Nor can I find any Cartoon Network stuff (thought they were all over on
Teletoon).

Those aren't available in all areas. In fact, I don't think we can get
them here in Halifax without satellite.... [not even on digital cable]

According to YTV, no it doesn't, it is just their choice. IIRC,
several episodes this season aired three weeks before they did on FOX,
and virtually all of the second half of the second season aired the
Thursday and Friday before they aired on FOX.

For Disney shows, I can't remember either.

Powerpuff Girls? Dexter's Lab? Those are CN shows, right?

As for Telétoon, they only play independents and old shows, AFAIK.

Well, the dish is preferred in non-metropolitan areas, whereas the
difference between cable and satellite is little in metropolitan areas.

Hey wait a minute. That IS the information said in this posting. That
Disney >>IS<< going to continue the run. The posts that it wasn't was a
misinterpretation of a second hand source. You got it completely wrong,
Ashes2ashes.

I was also a bit too emotional late last night. I understand that
"Disney" said they'd finish the run. But would they get the same VA's?
Translate it right? Not attempt to infuse morals into the story
(err...more obvious ones than it already has)?

I'd love to be wrong, but I doubt I am. The story wouldn't be the same
without the other VA's.

As for the saftely net thing, I heard from Megchan's board a few
months ago (this is what I get for not paying attention for two
months) that all the episodes had been dubbed and season3 would finish
its run. Why the sudden 360 information change?

Well, they're keeping at least some of the same support structure in
place. Nothing has changed for Megchan -- she's still getting her scripts
from the same person she always has, and keeps on handing them in as
usual. Disney would have to be made of utter fools to think the audience
wouldn't notice a change in voice actors, and whatever else one may think
of Disney, they're not *that* foolish. The only thing to worry about
would be changes in censorship standards -- but it's not like Fox Kids and
Saban were free of those themselves. Disney may be primarily known for
their formulaic childrens' films, but they've had some real prizes in the
past (like Gargoyles, or the dub of the Princess Mononoke, though
marketing fumbled that one). I'd say it's not worth panicking over, yet.

> I'd love to be wrong, but I doubt I am. The story wouldn't be the same

And Disney will realize that. And they'd also realize how much of a
hassle recasting the show and getting the new voice actors into the groove
while still keeping up a steady flow of episodes for Fox Kids would be.
(Not to mention how expensive.) Most likely, they'll stick with the
current voice acting studio at minimum through the end of Tamers.

Largely because a) Megchan never said that (she just posted today, I
believe, that she's working on a Tamers script right now -- and in any
case, the anime's still a few months away from finishing in Japan, so
it's very unlikely thatthey'd have dubbed all the episodes by two months
ago!), and b) because fans can panic sometimes on too little information.
When they heard about the Disney takeover, people started constructing the
most amazing horror stories with little to no basis in reality...
