We need to install central air in the new (old) house we are buying.

Any info about the best brand?
What kind of electrical service necessary to support?
Hints about finding contractors?

Our heating is currently working but 28 years old. Should we upgrade this
at the same time to save money? If so what are good heating systems (brands)?

Info: We have a 4 bedroom colonial with a full basement. I don't know the
square footage but all the rooms are good size (i.e smallest bedroom is 10x12)
family room is 14x18

Thanks,
Patti

Us too. We're scheduled for 2 weeks from now, and will let people know the
results.

Consumer Reports rated American Standard/Trane best, Lennox second. This is
based on rate of repair. Coincidentally, those are the two our research had
narrowed it down to. We're getting the first, because of the contractor.

The contractor should handle this.

Ask friends, your plumber, etc. Then get references and follow them up.
