I have the same problem with Winme that alot of u guys r having. i.e. cant
browse/see pcs in the entire network when u click on it, despite the fact
Ics appears to be working. I click on entire network, then search for both
the client(called main) & my second pc(called spare) using the
\\<computername> search command. The search command is typed in the window
over the entire network name. Once i have found both pcs(in my case main &
spare) which appear in my workgroup window(i use the default name mshome for
the workgroup) i simply drag the pcs icons from the workgroup to the my
network places as icons(makes short cuts for them). So when i click on my
network places from the desktop i now see the home network wizard, entire
netwrok icon plus my 2 connected pcs, main & spare. This works for me. I
know its not how its supposed to be but it works & i can access both pcs
plus my printer/net connect no problem. I hope this is clear?

You're NOT using TCP/IP for the LAN, right? I can use NetBEUI or IPX/SPX but
NOT TCP/IP.
I've tried every single fix in the Microsoft Knowledge base to no avail...
Can somebody clue me in...? Please...

I am resolving this issue as we speak. I should have an answer soon. So far
my testing is showing then if you disable Easy CD Creator from StartUp using
MSCONFIG it appears to resolve the issue.

Do you use Easy CD Creator on ANY of the PCs on the LAN?

Nice to find you here, Carey! I wanted to say that I finally got my TCP/IP
issue resolved...and this experience could be added to your thirty steps,
and is to assign fixed adresses to every machine in the network. After
desperatly using every trick in the book, the most obvious was overlooked by
me, not because I'm an idiot, but because I was an ignorant on networking,
and the concept of assigning fixed adresses seemed a W2k or NT trick, I
didn't think it could be done with Win98/ME...but to close the subject, I
would like to thank you for all the help you're giving to people like me,
that are very far from being Network Wizards in a kind and gentle way. If
you ever come across a Hardware problem; which are MY speciality, just say
the word and I'll be delighted to give you some back in return.
Keep up the good work!
Yours truly,

Pepe

Thank you very much for posting that solution. Simply brilliant (and
brilliantly simple)! I can't understand why or how it works but it does.
My network was fine till last night then suddenly ICS is ok but unable to
browse network. One minute after reading your post everything is fine once
more.

Hope it works for everybody else, too.
