You might try and find some Consolidated, particularly the track
"Unity of Oppression" on the _Friendly_Fascism_ album. Fabulous
music, and highly political.

*Kitchens of Distinction* is a group from Britain who are now on A&M in America
(One Little Indian in UK). Musically, they're a bit like 'the Smiths meet
Cocteau Twins'.
The lead singer is a gay man. Only a couple songs on their recent album
"Strange Free World" have clear MOTSS content, but I'm told their first album
"Love is Hell" has more MOTSS content.

Billy Bragg's new (British) single "Sexuality" show his sexual attitude
to be as "right-on" as his politics - It's also a brilliant tune.
I don't know if it's available in the states but his new album is called
"Don't try this at home" and well worth checking out.
Enjoy,
Mike.

Another _Great_ group is Romanovski and Phillips (my spelling is
probably completely incorrect.) They are on Fresh Fruit Records
(their own label) and their stuff can be ordered by calling
1-800-47-FRUIT.
Did anyone else see them at the Comunity Center last weekend?

Actually, Fresh Fruit is John Peel's record label.

Los Angeles alternative rock station KROQ 106.7 FM plays Billy Bragg's
"Sexuality" on a heavy rotation. I agree that it's a brilliant record!

The first lines are a s follows:
I've had relations with girls from many nations
I made passes at women of all classes
Just because you're gay, I won't turn you away
If you stick around, I'm sure we're gonna find some common ground...

Gee, I write a music column for the local gay/lesbian rag, so I should know
about this. Check out the issue of the Advocate in mid-October; the cover
story was about queer music.
Groups to look at:
Pirates of the Mississippi (not queer, but some queer lyrix)
Sister Double Happiness
Fifth Column
King Missile
Erasure
French Twist
`a;GRUMH (not a typo)
I am not suggesting these groups are "good" or "bad"; it's just a
brainstorm list.
Also: a billion indie bands I can't keep up with.
fEmail me if you want more information.

Let's see. A person need only be part homo to be queer, per bi people
in this newsgroup. If a band is only half gay, is it queer?
Anybody listened to PotM's *second* album? Any quear liryx in it?

Would the analogy to other minorities work here? Would you call a
mixed-sex band a female band? I don't think so. (This band could
certainly be female-positive, though, just as a band with only one
or even no gay members could be gay-positive.)
> Anybody listened to PotM's *second* album?
Yup.

Nope. Some uses of "you"; some uses of "she"/"her"/etc.
Nothing overtly kweer. :-(
