Has anyone gotten Oracle 8.1.7 installed on Mandrake 8.0?

I've seen posts that apparently people have gotten it to work.

I have applied all the patches to Mandrake from the Mandrake update tool
(including the glibc patch).

I have also recompiled the kernel so that the shmparam.h file contains
the following parameter:

#define SHMMAX 0x4000000

Before, I was running Redhat 7.x with no problems. I kept the same setup
for the Oracle account.

However, when I run the runInstaller program and click on any of the
buttons on the bottm (Exit, Help, Installed Products, Next), nothing
happens. I can't find any error messages or anything else.

However, if I press the Deinstall Products or About Oracle Universal
Installer buttons, they seem to work.

I'm attempting to run Oracle on Mandrake 8.0 and my system is as follows:

AMD K6-2 500
128 megs of RAM
Maxtor 30 gig harddrave

Anyone else had any luck in getting Oracle 8.1.7 to install and run
properly on Mandrake 8.0? I understand it's not supported by Oracle, but
since Mandrake is based on Redhat, I would think it should run and I like
Mandrake better than Redhat.

Thanks for any help in this problem.

I was able to run Oracle-8.1.7 using Mandrake-8.0 with the upgraded glibc.
Never tried to install it using Mandrake. I loaded RH-6.2 onto /dev/hdb to
do the install.

This is going to sound stupid, but make sure that your numlock is off.
