Wednesday 1st July

I had been praying all day that this episode would be alright and thank
god, the heavens were smiling on Biff and Tara tonight :)

START OF EPISODE

On the farm
Jack is getting out of the tractor and sees Terry and Will running past,
training. Terry stops and explains that Will has a trial. He voices
his concerns about the Cairns wanting Will back for the holidays and
tries to convince Jack to talk to Becky and Action Man.

Tearooms
The customers all all complaining that they want to order. Marlon has
to leave as he has been working in secret from Pollard. Alice is late
for school and Marlon offers to take her. Kathy serves a customer and
another one who has been complaining takes the plate of food off her for
himself. Kathy snaps and throws everyone out and closes the tearooms.

Pub
Everyone is in the kitchen getting ready. The Hutchinsons are all over
the kitchen. Lynne is reading Terry's paper and a mistake in the
washing means that Alan's white shirts are now all pink.

Home Farm
Tara walks up and Biff wanders over to her.
TARA: Didn't you get much sleep last night?
BIFF: No, no thanks to you.
T: [giggles] So any last minute nerves?
B: What about? Oh yeah, the birthday party tonight. I completely
forgot about it.
T: Stop it Its just a party, no big deal.
B: And you're more nervous about it than I am.
T: No I'm not (sighs). I just want you to feel at ease. Half my
friends are outrageous bitches and the other half outrageous flirts.
[Biff smiles] I don't want them giving you a hard time.
B: [leaning in towards her] I won't let them.
KIM walks over and they jump apart, she doesn't notice.
Tara gives her the vet's bill which had somehow ended up in the stud
farm mail. Kim's face falls as she reads the price.

Barn
Eric is at the antiques barn with Marlon. He's discussing a clearance
this afternoon at Elm Street that he has arranged with a woman. He
walks off as Mandy walks up. She tells Marlon that the tearoom is
shut. He tells her where Eric is going this afternoon so she can get in
first.

Quarry
The nasty smarmy guy comes and helps Steve move a slab. He asks how its
going and Steve replies that he hasn't had his head kicked in today.

Garage
The vicar needs money and is asking local businesses to contribute.
Lisa manages to give him a fiver. Zak tells him that he's had so much
money out of the Dingles that the church must have more brass than
Grimthorpe Band (the real Brassed Off bands for those of you who are
interested). Mandy comes and drags Zak and Butch off to help her at the
house clearance.

Vet
Kim is struggling to pay. Zoe says that that she can pay half now and
more later. Kim says she can't even pay half. Zoe says she can pay
what she can now and then pay the rest later. Kelly satarts having a go
at Kim and asks if she wants to borrow some money.
KIM: I couldn't take your money. You need it now you aren't getting all
your treats from Chris.

Street
Butch is deflating Pollard's tyres on the van. Donna comes over and
charges him £2 to keep her quiet. He gives her a pound. Butch runs off
as Pollard and Marlon walk over. Pollard thinks its Donna.

Pub
Jack, Terry and Vic are all talking about Will's chances at professional
rugby. Terry starts telling Jack how it would ruin the training if Will
was to go to Germany and come back 'full of saukraut(?) and beer'.
Kathy comes in looking really bad. Everyone is questioning why she is
in and not running the tearooms. This makes her more depressed, she
orders a large gin and tonic. The vicar and Paddy are comparing the
money they have managed to scrounge from local businesses. The vicar
suggests that they approach Lady Oakwell as she is now the new Lady of
the Manor. Paddy replies - "Tara Oakwell! She's as tight as a fist!
She's got Biff working all hours and he gets no extras!" :) Alan
complains that Terry hasn't washed the towels. He says its because
Heather is using the machine. Heather goes out and Terry tells Alan
that they have to go.

ADVERTS

House sale
Eric goes up to the house on Elm Street to find that Mandy is there and
has already done the deal with the woman. She manages to sell it all to
him for £100 cash.

Pub
Alan asks Heather if she could find a place of their own. She gets
angry and starts blaming Terry. She tells the girls that they are being
evicted as they come in from school and that they have to get their own
dinners.

Wine Bar
Eric is complaining to Marlon about Mandy as he opens up. Kathy comes
in and asks him to revert to their old hours. Eric refuses and says she
should hire her own chef. She says she can't afford it and tells him
he's trying to take her business and is making her life a misery. He
tells her she's being paranoid.

Quarry
The brookie head guy tells Steve he can knock off early. Then he talks
to smarmy guy about there being a secret meeting at 9:30pm, Steve hears
this.

Post Office
Kirsty comes round and gets an invitation for tea. PrimaDonna is still
refusing to take out her stud and stomps off upstairs with Kirsty
trailing her. Zoe comes round and asks them to talk Kelly into coming
home. Vic is sympathetic but says he's done everything he can but she
won't listen to him. Viv is just a cow and says that Zoe should have
minded her own business in the first place.

Oakwell Hall
The vicar and Paddy are there asking for sponsorship for the fayre.
Tara is cautious at first saying that sponsoring a bouncy castle is not
a good way to impress her business associates. They convince her that
the fayre will be different with a Leeds DJ and all sorts of other
things. Tara is swayed and says she will give her answer tomorrow. As
they leave, Biff comes out of the house in a suit and tie, which is a
hell of a lot better than Tara's pink and black creation! Tara is very
impressed but he is very nervous, she calms him down and tells him he
looks like a young Mel Gibson but shorter (I thought Mel Gibson was
short anyway!!)

Pub
Heather is not back for her shift. Mandy is having a drink to celebrate
getting one over on Eric. Marlon is sat with Kathy. Kelly tells Zoe
she thinks she should get out of the house. Zoe agrees but Kelly's idea
is for a night out for both of them, not moving out. Kathy is talking
about selling up. Marlon suggests she buys Eric out of his share, she
says he'll never sell. But Marlon suggests forcing him out then she can
take over and have Marlon as her head chef.

Happy cottage
Kim is sad about Kaiser, Steve is contemplating selling Kaiser but Kim
refuses. 'Kaiser is cheaper to keep than you are'.

Party
Biff finds himself surprised, and that Tara's friends party is quite
normal, with loud music and lots of drink. He is introduced to Tara's
honourable friend Lucy. Tara then runs off to see an old friend, Toby
and Biff is left with Lucy. She quizzes him on how long Tara and him
have known one another and how they met. He says they aren't exactly
going out and he is her driver. She asks for a dance and he makes it
clear he is not for hire. Lucy says she never thought about it and Biff
begins to relax.

Quarry
Steve has sneaked back and sees smarmy bloke and brookie head bloke
filling the back of a van with quarry slabs, thus ripping off Home Farm.

Pub
Alan goes to bed. Terry is locking up and hears a noise in the bar, he
goes in and Heather is sat at a table looking depressed. She asks him
to stay and talk to her.

Party
Lucy tells Biff that none of Tara's friends were surprised when the
divorce was announced as they all thought Alex was a prat and no-one
could see what she saw in him. Biff agrees. She questions Biff
intentions towards Tara and Biff tells her that they are having fun,
that's all he wants.

Pub
Heather is dwelling on the fact she can only find grotty bedsits on her
wages. Terry offers to talk to Alan to see if they can stay. She tell
shim she is broke and has no savings, that she hates her job and is
depressed. She hasn't got the energy to go on anymore.

Party
Tara comes over to Biff and Lucy and tells Biff its time to go. He says
he'll go and call a taxi. As he walks past Lucy he tells her not to
worry. Tara questions Lucy and asks her what she thinks of Biff. Lucy
replies that she's a very lucky girl and he is gorgeous. Tara agrees
enthusiastically.

Pub
Heather is telling Terry how her dad has been ill and then the fire,
nothing is going right. She complains her life is pointless that she
has done nothing that she wanted to do, like have a nice home, family a
decent bloke. She tells him she is frightened, wondering what is going
to happen next, she's so lonely all the time. Terry agrees. She says
how its been so long since she's had someone to hold her. Terry does
just that and she goes to kiss him. He says no, and she walks out, but
Terry calls after her.

END OF EPISODE

Good episode. Glad to see Tara and Biff got through the party
perfectly.

Enjoy
