Went cragging at Rumney instead of going to my office
today. It rained for hours on the drive -- maybe this
will stop? Luckily, yes. While Californians boulder
in shorts, we choose layers of fleece. Glad to be
outdoors.

STATS

Time -- 9:15am
Weather -- fog, thunder, 45 F
Other climbers -- 53 + 9 dogs, well dispersed
Planned trad routes running with water -- 1
Alternative sport routes reasonably dry -- many
Falcon home crags -- 1
Best leading -- Social Obligation (onsight),
Peer Pressure (wired)
Worst frigging -- Pretzel Logic (take! ouch!)
Abusively sharp holds -- 6
Painfully small holds -- 5
Unexpectedly wet holds -- 3
Finger flake on PP entry move -- still there
Joint pain -- yep
Medication present in bloodstream -- 600mg caffeine,
800mg ibuprofen
Black fly activity -- 0
Mental attitude -- in Moab
Conversation -- about Moab
Partner's new screen saver -- from Moab
Speeding dump truck near misses -- 1
The storm did not catch us
My car was not ticketed
My dog ran away but came back

Right guess. No, wait, was that a metaphor?
For years I thought the crag's name was "Banzai," which
seemed to fit with the surf theme next door.

Just back from my first visit to that area myself.

Trip summary

Mental attitude -- still in SE Utah
Pitches climbed -- Only 17! (in 5 days climbing)
#2 camalots (and equivalents) placed on Incredible Hand Crack - 8
desert tower summits - 3
Total desert tower summits in life - 3
Rec.climbers seen - 5
Climbing legends met - 3
Current Must-do list for Southern Utah - infinite
