Bangor, MA. (AP) -- Stephen King was found dead in his basement in
Bangor, Maine this afternoon at approximately 1PM EST. According to a
coroner's preliminary report, it appeared that King had been dead
since he released "Misery" in 1987. Cause of death has been listed as
lack of credible writing talent complicated by over promotion. It is
being reported that two days ago, King somehow signed a 2 year/6 book
contract with an undisclosed publisher. A spokesperson for King stated
that Dean Koontz will fulfill King's remaining contractual
obligations. Fans should notice little difference.

Wow! Dead since 1987, and still signing contracts in 1997. That's amazing.
Who are these fools signing dead authors?

One had to be the first to be his own ghost writer.

What? You don't like EC comics?

I guess that would be me. Sometimes you can only like dickheads for the
dickheads that they are. And believe you me, I've known some dickheads. Up
close and personal, I might add...

With some of the crap I see on bookstore shelves, I'm more tempted
to ask who the fools are signing live authors?

Personally, I enjoyed the hell out of "Needful Things" right
from the start. I thought it was hilarious and great fun.
There's nothing like a good cat fight and non-stop mayhem
to brighten your day!

You know, it's interesting to note that Leland Gaunt, the
proprieter of Needful Things, got a real kick out of inciting
people to nastiness and violence, kind of like some posters to
this newsgroup.

I recommend "Needful Things" to all King readers. I wish I
could say I enjoyed "The Tommyknockers" as much, but I didn't.
Maybe I'll re-read it one of these days and find more to
recommend it.

Loved Needful Things! Of course the movie sucked, but what else is new?
I live in Gloucester, Ma. and Stevie lives 2 towns over in Bangor, Ma.
We have coffey(haha) and ring-dings all the time while yuking it up
watching I Love Lucy and other oldies on Nick AT Nite. We justspoke on
the phone last night about that disgraceful rematch of the
Superbowl(10/27 MON.night football, Pats vs.Green Bay).

If you don't like it, don't read it. And if you think Koontz is any good
at all, take a lit. class or two. Then maybe you'll know a dead author
when you trip over one.

Well, my two cents isn't worth much, but the heading caught my eye. This
is my first, definitely not last, visit here.

Just wanted to point out the error in the "obituary". I'm not sure where
the quotes came from or when, however Stephen King has said on more than
one occassion that he doesn't enter his basement, hasn't since "Jurassic
Park" came to the big screen.
(He's afraid there is a Velociraptor waiting for him there)

I thought all King fans knew this, but guess not.

Olde Hippie

ps: I read and collect all Stephen King hardcover, and those "specials"
never printed in hardcover. To reply direct, remove number in addy.

I guess as he was found dead in the basement, the raptor got him. :)

I believe the original post was from Lucas Buck. If you've been here a
while, then you can probably figure it out from that.
